Yes North Texas should be recruiting this kid. He's a great football player who's won a lot. Similar to Ronnell Sims from Abilene.

He sure has some impressive stats. Anyone in the Mean Green Nation seen this kid play?

Seen him several times. Liked Javia Hall much better. Has an ugly hitch in his throws. Lacks consistency. John Tyler game comes to mind. Led DeSoto to the 7 on 7 finals this summer. Should be on YouTube somewhere.

I could tell he has the hitch from the photos I saw of him....but worth looking into for sure. The argument as to why he had such a powerful Junior Yr (over 4,000 yds passing) is that his receiver core was phenomenal. Many of them have already signed and committed to large schools. I wish nothing but the best for him...but at the least I did see a "ULM offer" on one of the sites so at least he has something.

Great receivers help, but you still have to get it in their hands.

There was a comment on the blog noted above that stated his mechanics are a mess, so maybe that is why he isn't getting many looks as a QB. Maybe worth looking at as an athlete though.

Hadn't seen the Youtube video. Ok, the hitch was not as apparent on these clips. Games against Duncanville, Skyline, Cedar Hill and Tyler John Tyler.

Yes, his throwing mechanics are somewhat scary. But when you win like he (and Ronnell Sims) has (especially in 5A football Region II) and put up numbers like that you've got to be a good football player. Saying that, he probably does not pass the litmus test as an FBS QB, but he's a heck of an athlete who our coaches need to take a long look at. We're probably never going to go down to DeSoto or Cedar Hill and get their top 3 recruits; but we've got to start chipping away at kids who are their next tier on those teams and are committing to Houston, Tulsa, Baylor, SMU, etc.

Amen to that. When Dodge got here I really hoped we would be in a better position to do this by now. Hopefully this season will get the train back on the track.

Recruited by UNT, UTSA, and Rice. Committed to UTSA yesterday.

So...where did you get that he was recruited by us? Obviously most recruiters are looking past his great numbers and seeing something they don't like. What it is...I have no idea but I am glad he is going to school next fall cause he deserves it. Even if it is at UTSA (0-0 Since Inception) ;)

"Polite said his father has recently heard from coaches at North Texas, UT-San Antonio and Rice"

"Polite (6-1, 205) had received a few Football Bowl Subdivision scholarship offers last season before they went away"

It doesnt state which schools made offers in the second article, but I had read something a while back that UNT offered, he didnt accept right away and they pulled it. Ill see if I can find it.

A hitch in his throw? Has anyone seen Mike Vicks arm motion? blink.gif

I think we should look at this guy. I sure hope we did. Reminds me of when we didn't look at Steven Jyles even though he wanted to come here. At least ULM didn't get him.

I've actually posted about the hitch in that throw before....but I can't see how if the numbers make sense that he doesn't get picked up by someone at the FBS level. Some coaches have moaned about the hitch being too much to work with and that it will always be there. I argue that if he does have a hitch (which can easily be seen on tape) but is accurate and a good passer then what does it matter?
