I got a lead all the way up here. Has anyone heard of a possible TE transfer from Northeastern University (dropped its football program)? Name of the transfer is Conor Gilmartin (also seen as Conor Gilmartin-Donohue).

http://twitter.com/conorochonueve - says "Bio Former NU Tight End #89, now Tight End at North Texas"

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=185471 - Good size 6'6" 253.

Haven't heard of him yet but I don't really expect to. He would only have one year of eligibility left. He played for a 1-AA team that had little success the last seven years of their existence. He was the 18th rated tight end in New York as a high school senior but that didn't get him a single offer from a 1-A program. His best asset is size but since Canales won't use the tight end traditionally it's hard to know if size is that much of an advantage.

I wish him well but I'm not holding my breath.

sad story

Very sad. And what is especially sad:

the team averaged fewer than 1,600 fans per game

That's at a school with a combined enrollment of around 50k. At least that was what I was told by my friends who attended there close to 20 years ago.

I thought he was a Soph which would mean 2 years of eligibility due to the fact that the NCAA will waive the year sit out rule due to the program being cancelled.

He has already played 3 season, so only 1 year left to play.
