Player of the Week

Power forward Kim Blanton averaged 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in two games to earn Denton Record-Chronicle UNT Player of the Week honors.

The 6-1 junior had 17 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in a 64-63 loss at New Orleans on Thursday. Blanton made sure the Lady Eagles didn’t lose Saturday at South Alabama, scoring a game-high 20 points and sinking the game-winning basket to snap the Jaguars’ 11-game home winning streak.

Kim has had a really solid season. She went from being more of a supporting player last year, to being one of our goto people.

Blanton knows how to get garbage points off offensive rebounds, and can run the floor well, where Bobo finds her and gets it to her.

I know I've said it a dozen times, but the ladies are gonna be really, really good next year. At least all signs point towards that way.

I sure hope you are right. We were saying the same thing about the men earlier this year and look at what's happened! Of course Coach Slinker has been here long enough to build her program, and we have grown accustomed to a winning team. I am confident she will have us back to our winning ways in no time.

True we were thinking big things for the men.

Of course the women's squad is REALLY young, and they're pretty close to being damn good already. Alot of this season's close losses will be victories next year IMHO.
