I'm posting this here because I know this forum gets read the most. If y'all feel the need to move it that's ok.

This is pretty cool and I thought maybe a few people here would be interested. Especially those that have older children. Mine are a little too young as the age limit is 10 or older.

They need extras for the filming of Friday Night Lights at the Cotton Bowl and instead of getting paid they will be making donations to Operation Kindness if you go as a representative of their group. With the economic downturn over the past few years many people make their first budget cuts by letting go of their animals. Operation Kindness is the largest NO KILL animal shelter in North TX and they have taken on quite a lot of animals over the past few years. If you could do this it would be a very cool experience and for a great cause all at the same time!

Thanks!

Sam

Greetings All:

Please read below, be an extra on TV and help the animals at the same time! This is a great opportunity for all of our YMSL and NCL folks!

“Friday Night Lights” is the hit DirecTV/NBC television series from acclaimed Writer/Director Peter Berg. The story behind the series – In Dillon, Texas, high school football isn’t just a sport, it’s a way of life. It is a family drama that not only focuses on football, but on the lives, loves and goals of people in a small Texas town.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Volunteer EXTRAS to play FANS in the football stands. We are looking for men, women and children in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Age limit is restricted to 10 years and older.

FILMING DATES

We will be filming on BOTH Friday 7/16/10 and Saturday 7/17/10. You are invited to participate on either one or both of these dates.

WHERE WILL FILMING TAKE PLACE

The Cotton Bowl – 3750 Midway Plaza, Dallas, TX 75210 (located at Fair Park)

HOW MUCH TIME IS REQUIRED

You will be expected to stay with us for the duration of our filming day, which can last anywhere from 6-10 hours. Start time is still TBD but depending on start, could last as late as 10:00pm on each day.

HOW YOUR ORGANIZATION WILL BENEFIT

For each person that attends as a representative of your group, a $20.00 per person donation will be made to Operation Kindness.

WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED

We will provide snacks and beverages for everyone throughout the day. After four (4) to six (6) hours of work, box lunches will also be provided. You are also welcome to bring food/drink with you to the stadium. During the day, there will be giveaways and raffles for great prizes. You will also get the chance to see your favorite “FNL” actors and possibly see yourself on NBC/DirecTV television!!

If you are interested, please email Julie at jgoff@operationkindness.org.

For those of us who have dogs, Operation Kindness (and other similar "no kill" shelters) is a great charity.

One of the saddest things a person will ever see is going to a shelter that puts animals down when no one comes to their rescue. mrsgreengoblin, a salute to your group for adding Operation Kindness as a beneficiary to this event. :clapping:
