I have been put at ease ever since the Fake assured us all is well, now that Coach Canales is here. No reason to discuss how many wins it will take to assure Dodge's job. The guy has been right about everything else he posts, so I now bow at the alter of the Fake.

He promised quarterly meetings years ago, yet I still trust RV, but I also understand that circumstances change.

Not even comparable, and you know it. Promising a meeting and promising a certain level of performance from a coach that is 5-31 over 3 years are two entirely different things.

And yes, he should have kept the other promise, also.

You're right, it wasn't a good analogy, but the only one I could come up with. The point I was trying to make is that circumstances could change and the 7 wins may not be the line in the sand that he made it out to be earlier.

For instance, what if we end up 6-6 with close, less than 7 points, losses to Clemson and K-state, and nailbiter loses to Troy and MTSU and maybe Rice? We show vast improvement across the board and the program has clearly turned the corner and we end up 6-6 and bowl eligible, would that be grounds to fire Dodge just because he was one win short of 7?

Rice went 2-10 last year; I'm expecting a W. Same goes for K State, to be honest, although I'm sure by then we'll know whether or not that's Dodge's last game.

We really need that Rice win to give us some confidence (and crowd support) early on. Last year could have been a very different season if we hadn't blown the Ohio game the way we did. I sure hope these guys have had a good offseason, because we need them sharp from the get go, and the get go is almost here.

This is the easiest schedule I can remember us having in recent history. Rice, K State, and Army should all be wins by this point. Even Clemson is a far cry from Alabama last year, but I wouldn't fault anyone if we lost. It should be closer than 7-53 or <insert other Dodge/DD blowout score>.

I hope you have erred on the low side, EagleGreen. I personally want to see TD be successful here because, among other things, I think he represents UNT well and really mentors our young men.

If your prediction comes true, it will be like making love to a skunk...I will have had about all of that I can enjoy!

Feel exactly the same way. That Ohio game was the key to the season. That loss cost us a successful season.
