–Talked to people today who know Clemson right fielder Kyle Parker a lot better than I do, and there's growing belief that he will eventually sign with the Rockies. Parker, the Rockies' first-round pick, sits in a special position. He has three years remaining in football, where he was the Tigers' starting quarterback. But the Rockies have already told me that they would be open to him playing football while starting his pro baseball career. They did something similar with fourth-round pick, NC State quarterback Russell Wilson. Parker is expected to make a decision in roughly two weeks. It's likely it will take well over the $1.3-million slot money to get a deal done. But the Rockies could structure the deal to protect themselves if Parker is injured playing football.
