UNT athletic director Rick Villareal said the school will hire a consultant to study the Mean Green's athletic program and make recommendations about its future before considering any moves.

It sounds like the WAC may need UNT more than UNT needs the WAC. Hiring the consultant will allow NT more time to explore our value to CUSA and possibly the MWC plus see what other expansion changes are made if any before the conference move deadlines. It also allows NT to do an indepth study of financial gains/losses with a potential WAC move by ourselves or with friends.

Agree and I am glad NT is going through their due diligence prior to making any decisions.

A thoughtful process that will analyze all of the options and make an unbiased recommendation. That is the reason to bring in a consultant - someone without an axe to grind.

Other than that, since I am a University of Alaska grad, I am dreaming one day that the Seawolves would have a football team in thier dome to play in the WAC too. UAA has 20,000 students, and building a 6,000 seat arena for thier basketball team. They play hockey in a 6,500 seat city arena and currently practice track and field in a 4,000 seat dome which has soccer and football field. Obviously, money would have to be put to construct a college football dome, but dreams are what future football teams are made of! Also, it would be good for Alaska since it is the only state in the union without a college football team! Anchorage (MSA population: 370,000) is big enough in my opinion! Go Seawolves!

Now I've heard it all. I have to admit, the WAC certainly doesn't have a shortage of interested programs. Unfortunately for them, those programs have very little to offer.
