I'm sure that's just a drop in the bucket compared to all the money and jobs that were lost when Houston, SMU, TCU, and Rice were separated from the rest of the Texas schools that left them behind for the Big 12.

How the heck did the state of Texas survive that financial disaster?

If Baylor is separated

Here's an opinion I shared on another board:

Baylor won't be saved through the state legislature. They won't be saved by riding Longhorn coattails through another conference shakeup. They won't be saved by letter campaigns or laughable "economic impact" studies.

Anyone who went to Baylor and took the curriculum or that works there and actually meant the religious pledge that all employees have to sign should know that there's only one school recognized path to Salvation.

And it isn't through praying to burnt orange false idols.

If you're a Baylor Baptist with Calvinist leanings... You probably knew all along how things were meant to turn out.

So is Baylor a lost soul now? Or are they going to "tell it on the MountainWest Top, Over the Hills and everywhere?"

Let's put it this way:

The Pac-10 is Jesus. Baylor is a fig tree.

Also... I meant to give you a +1, but accidentally did the opposite.

I wish that we had an "undo" option. Sorry about that. If a mod sees this, please amend my error.

"Waco-based economist Ray Perryman"

He wouldn't distort the numbers would he? Let's invite them to the SBC.

No, Ray Perryman (info about him here) would not distort the numbers. His business is giving accurate though often painful economic evaluations. He's not too popular with the Tea Parties right now after demonstrating conclusively that US economy actually needs labor from Mexico as American workers will not take the jobs the illegals do. He is the go to guy on economic reporting about the Southwest for everyone from Fox to the NY Times.
