Just announced at Regents meetings they are going to the Big 10

That should seal the fate of the Big12. Texas and others were waiting for Nebraska to defect before they would. It looks like the PAC10 for 4-5 but Aggs still thinking about the SEC. Utah would be subbed for A$M.

It would be interesting if by some fluke Texas also ended up in the Big10...still a thorn to NU.

The Mountain West invite to Boise means Utah already knows they are not invited to the Pac 10. Now the Mountain West can pick and choose among Big XII survivors for 2 or 4 more.

It also complicates any possible move to CUSA for us now that Baylor is looking for a home. The small privates in CUSA will be all over Baylor before us or La Tech.

I heard Baylor's preference after no PAC10 invite would be the MWC. Expect their efforts to try for that and travel partner with TCU before ever resorting to a drop to third-tier CUSA with Smut et al.

I think it's funny the Waco legislator is wanting Austin to do something and have all public voices heard before schools are allowed to change out of the Big12.:lol:

I googled Nebraska to big ten and this popped up.

Report: Nebraska Accepts Big Ten Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska has officially accepted an invitation to join the Big Ten Conference, according to a report from the Omaha World-Herald.

World Herald sports reporter Brian Norton reported the accepted invite in a live blog from the Nebraska board of Regents meeting at 1:23 p.m. CT Friday. Norton said Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany contacted Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe spoke Friday, and that the invitation was officially extended and accepted.

The move means the Big Ten will jump from 11 to 12 teams, allowing the conference to split to two divisions and hold a championship game.

To any University of Minnesota fan, the prospects of having Nebraska enter the Big Ten can be summed up by a single score: 84-13. That was the results of the clinic the Cornhuskers gave to the Gophers in a woefully memorable football game in 1983.

“I think if you’re a fan and if you’re a fan of really good football, I think you gotta be excited about this,” said Gopher football broadcaster Dave Mona. “I think Nebraska has got the potential almost immediately to become a rivalry, I think the paper said this morning that they’ve played Minnesota more than any other Big Ten team.”

In the past 50 years the two teams have played each other 15 times. The Gophers’ only victory came in a 24-16 game in Lincoln in 1960, the same season the Gophers won their first Rose Bowl berth. In every game since, Nebraska has manhandled the Gophers by a combined score of 567-126.

Mona says bringing Nebraska into the Big Ten would certainly add to television revenues that the schools share—Minnesota would get a bigger cut of the money. But most important, Mona says it would increase the level of competition, and the Gopher athletic program would have to step up.

From the Omaha World-Herald.

So, this is basically how it went down last week at the Big12 rah-rah meetings...

Perlman: The Big 12 asked for a commitment from NU through at least 2016. Nebraska, in turn, asked for a commitment from the University of Texas that it would assign all athletic broadcast rights to the conference and thus not begin its own network. Texas declined, he said.

Osborne: "One team leaving does not break up a conference. Two teams leaving does not break up a conference. Six teams leaving breaks up a conference."

Brook Berringer heartily endorses Nebraska's plan for navigating conference realignment. They've done wonders for the Big 12.

Spin it however you want, Osborne.

In the end, there's a corpse in the cornfield with Husker DNA and fingerprints all over the scene.
