In an exclusive interview on Sportsradio 810 WHB, Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe has taken off the gloves publicly regarding a possible raid of his conference to lure Missouri and Nebraska to the Big Ten.

"We need to have a very frank conversation about where we're going and who's going to be on the plane when we take off," Beebe said about the upcoming Big 12 meeting in two weeks in Kansas City. "I will be very direct... and want to find out."

his poker face is funny. a lot of saber rattling but knows he can't stop it from happening. threats of being stronger by adding better teams to replace neb and mo are laughable. who? power and money talk and the big 10 has it right now.

Anyone else find it interesting he hinted that adding teams from states where the big xii already has a presence wouldn't happen?

Sorry TCU and Houston.

What states do you think the Big 12 would go look at? While non-AQ teams would jump at the chance to join the Big 12, the choices are rather limited if they are wanting to replace Neb. and Mizzu with "comparable" schools.

i don't know of any replacements for missouri and nebraska that puts big 12 tv contract in stronger position than it is now. t.c.u. and houston would bring nothing new to the table. plus if pac 10 adds colorado, big 12 is in a world of hurt. arkansas would loose aproximately $10 millon annually by returning to swc/big 12, and no one wants byu. it would seem the only choices are to become the big 9, or add someone like new mexico to replace nebraska, colorado state to replace colorado, and perhaps memphis to replace missouri. if pac 10 takes utah, then mountain west would be done as a b.c.s. want-a-be. it appears that big 12,mountain west, and big east are all in the same boat, waiting on big 10 and pac 10 to make a move, which could happen this june/july. the non bcs conferences such as w.a.c.,c.u.s.a., and belt will swap some schools, but should come out o.k. i think the m.a.c. will stand pat. just an opinion.

What if they look to the east for new teams, like Memphis or one of the Illinois schools?

not well known enough to be a national program they are looking for. byu would be but too far west. ark will not leave sec. maybe louisville.

Big XII Commissioner: Are you in or out ?

http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/05/big-12-prez-are-you-in-or-out.html

big 12 commish cannot demand that schools stay in the conference. same as they cannot demand he stay commish. if they get better offers they are both free to leave. only penalty is already provided in contract or league rules.
