North Texas Lady Eagle recruit, 6-3 F Mia Ajekwu led all scorers with 20 points as Woodlands defeated Jersey Village 63-53 in overtime in the Region II 5-A quarterfinals. A good showing for a promising recruit.

A pretty tall girl too. Coach Slinker seems to be going for size now. A few years ago we were rather perimeter orientated, but now we seem have changed philosophy.

That's not a good or bad thing, just a casual observation.

Perhaps coach Slinker is thinking along the lines of "shooters can go cold, but inside scoring is high percentage and you're bound to get fouled."

Just the same, I used to love how players like NIcole Thomas, Heather Trout and even Rosalyn Reades to a degree could just blow a game open from the arc.

I can't say I disagree with getting a team of giants either. Pounding inside frustrated opponenets and wears them down physically.

A shooter or two would be nice to keep opponents honest though. Slinker's team is gonna be strong next season.

Tina is now recruiting players that compliment our conference. It's really not changing philosophy.....just getting with the plan according to other teams in the SunBelt.
