Clearing The Haze - Conference Realignment

I am concerned for UNT's sake about the mention of 4 SuperConferences. A 64-team cartel that could break off from under NCAA rule and form their own playoff too. The new 1-A and 1-AA system?

"The hypothesized "superconference" model assumes that the symmetrical four-conference, 64-team landscape would lend itself to a playoff. Whether you believe that day to be coming or not, it stands to reason that a consolidation of power would only further allow the current BCS powers to retain the status quo."

Well, since the majority of these schools probably receive federal funds, our elected officials (who are properly motivated) could look into this cartel that's about to be formed.

I'm still a little leery about how vigilant our Congress people will pursue this once their constituency is satisfied. For instance, Sen. Orrin Hatch is strongly against these monopolistic cartels for now but if Utah and BYU are included with the big boys I'd bet that he backs off.
