Ranked #74

The team remains ranked after beating Denver and crushing Louisville.

Big matches with a dangerous ULL team on Friday and then a big ranking match-up with Rice (#42) on Sunday.

I don't know a lot about tennis, but I wonder how 6-12 TCU passed NT in the rankings.

TCU is a perennial top 30 team that is down right now, although they have also played a rough schedule. They also have severa 4-3 losses and a 4-3 win over UT.

UNT does not have that luxury yet and the 7-0 whipping by Tulsa few weeks back does not help.

unfortunately the team laid an egg once again when facing a Top 50 team.

They lost 7-0 to FL, 7-0 to GTech, 7-0 to Tulsa, 5-2 to FIU, and now 6-1 to Rice today at home.

untbowler, I thought you were supposed to be the "resident tennis expert"... Tennis lost to Ga Tech 6-1. Paula Dinuta took a match from the Yellow Jackets...

That doesn't excuse the fact that they lose to these teams, but in tennis one player can really make the difference.

Well crap missed that one singles win, will be curious to see how quickly the team's early signee will get acclimated in the fall. Only losing one player to graduation so 7 of Top 8 should return barring attrition.

As for this year, outside of FIU the Belt is weak this year nationally, usually three team are ranked. Denver has injuries, USA has issues with fielding a full team, and UNT has not been able to get a breakout win on the national level.

Conference should be interesting with UNT getting the #2 seed, assuming they take care of business this weekend against MTSU and Troy, and getting a rematch with Denver in the SF.

The tennis team took care of business this past weekend and should be the #2 seed in the Conference Tournament next weekend, behind #1 FIU. The tournament is down in New Orleans.

After #1-2 there is no telling who will be #3, probably Denver although Troy could make a push for it as well.

IMO anything less than an appearance in the finals would probably be a disappointment.

If Lama does not win the conference championship, he should be processed through a noodle-maker and used for stringing the next coach's tennis racket.

WIN OR GO HOME!

Just trying to see if the basketball mojo works the same for the Tennis Ladies...

GOOD LUCK LADIES!
