I thought we played a good game against a better team. They are undefeated for a reason. We played hard. Win 3 to end the season and go into post season.
The regular fans in our section were surrounded by Army fans, and they acted like the owned our stadium. DATCU had to be somewhere between 40-60% Army fans for this game. Unfortunately, our team didn't put them in their place. Morris made some very questionable calls, and Army's defense (comprised of 2-star talent we wouldn't even let walk-on at UNT), made a joke of our "high-powered" offense.
The Army fans near us were annoying and mouthy. They even went so far as to call Mean Green fans "a bunch of vaginas", when many fled following our first endzone pick. By the end of the game, the entire event had become an embarrassment for North Texas.
So what can we really take away from this game? The North Texas football program never answers the challenge when faced with a real opportunity to be something better, and sadly our leadership believes that is acceptable. Sure, we will back into a sh!tty bowl game (against a team from a conference we left). But we won't be anything more than we are right now. We will continue to be a visitor in our stadium every time a real program shows up.
I keep seeing posts about how the defense got it done today. I didn’t see that. Army did what they always do to high powered offense teams- slow down, hold the damn ball. We couldn’t force a turnover for large portions of that game. We couldn’t hold the line against that run. I agree that the offense didn’t do them any favors, but Army played us like a damn fiddle for 14 minutes.
Maybe not, but does the product unt has been putting out worth the average fan worth the extra hassle of parking and getting through gates?
To me, the average fan will say no thanks and find something else to do in Dfw.
Unt football is in entertainment business and there is a lot of competition in Dfw.
No one has to like the comment but it is true.
