the real reason: "But in the long haul, this might be a good deal to get the Big East in here, and expose the Big East to the Memphis market, and Memphis to the Big East.”

This is a dumb move. This is going to create start a chain affect where all bowl will want to align with large schools. Clearly they want an SEC team because of ticket sales, but soon we will have an 11-0 C-USA team sitting at home, will a 6-6 Vanderbilt team gets to play over Christmas.

Let’s face it until, Rice (or any C-USA) can fill a 100,000K stadium, why would any bowl want to bring them in and risk only selling 6K tickets if that. More than likely the reason why the Liberty bowl is making this move, is because its either re-align or close up shop.

Can't happen with current rules. Vandy would need to be 7-5 to be invited with an auto bid over any other team with a better record. 6-6 stays home. Besides, a CUSA team that was undefeated would be 13-0.

Normally a chain effect is a sign of things to come.
