Ronald McGhee SG/SF (6-5,175)

Junior, Baton Rouge, La. / Istrouma

McGhee is a smooth and athletic wing who can take over the game with his offensive skill. He is an above-the-rim finisher in transition and can score in a variety of ways without taking bad shots. This long and lean scorer can shoot the 3 with ease. He has a strong midrange game with his one- or two-dribble pull-ups with the ability to attack both right and left. McGee rarely misses an open look because he is ready to shoot when the ball hits his hands. He is also great at attacking the rim along the baseline where he can score with great touch and body control at high speeds. McGee is a good ball handler and an on-the-money passer when he draws a second defender. He must hit the weight room on a regular basis and be more active on the glass, but this young man's upside is tremendous.

I wonder which USC. I'm guessing South Carolina.

There was talk about Josh and this signing with USC. If I recall right, Josh brought it up in an interview and mentioned Southern California... I could be remembering this wrong, but I am pretty sure.

Advocate article

http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/89589367.html

The 6-foot-6 McGhee committed to the Mean Green of former LSU player and assistant coach Johnny Jones after a weekend visit to the Denton, Texas, school.

“It’s something I’d been wanting to do for while,” McGhee said of the commitment. “I was just waiting for the right time. I’ve been talking to them since last fall.

“I liked the visit. The guys on the team were great. I liked the team and school.”

I liked this post from UNCTarHeel:

...A kid that lSU needs to seriouly look at is Ronald McGhee of Istrouma and Patrick RObinson of CLA. These two are very good players. McGhee has already caught the eye of Duke asst.Nate James....

Reading the article makes me wonder about him in the classroom. He said he has been workig hard with tutors, lets all hope that he does qualify, keeps his grades up while at UNT, and gets a degree while here in addition to performing on the court. I think this could be the best out of high school recruit we have ever signed....
