BJ Davis from the little town of Sudan ? - rivals.com

Well, since his Rivals page shows only Baylor and UTEP being interested, AND since he doesn't appear on either of their spring rosters....it's a possibility.

*update* According to the official Angelo State site, B.J. Davis signed with them.

He's a walk on. I talked with his parents during the scrimmage this morning. He played for one of the Plano schools. Can't remember the name off the top of my head.

No.

Some more background on him that I remember while talking with his parents ... he was injured (back) while playing Trinity in the play-offs. NT was recruiting him but never offered.

Eh...Vito said he was a tall receiver. 6'0 doesnt really count as tall

His parents were saying he's closer to 6'3", and I'd more likely to believe them then Vito on the subject.

From a preview of the Class 5A Division I semifinal, December 2007

Trinity (13-1): vs Plano (13 - 1)...this was Rex Burkhead's junior year.

KEEP AN EYE ON ...

Trinity RB Samir Baker

Baker uses his speed and power to burst through the gaps provided by Trinity's imposing offensive line. The 5-6, 177-pound senior has 251 carries for 1,791 yards and 16 TDs. Baker was part of a tailback tandem for most of the season, but he has shouldered much of the running burden with junior RB Dontrayevous Robinson out with a leg injury.

Plano WR Grant Davis

Davis is part of a talented group of receivers who have helped Plano's spread offense flourish. He had eight catches for 114 yards and a touchdown last week, giving him 51 catches for 961 yards and seven touchdowns this season. The 6-3, 195-pound senior has great hands and has averaged 18.8 yards per catch.

Any super-sleuths know what he did for the 2008 and 2009 seasons since he was a HS senior in '07?

Maybe he went to a cc for a year to get his grades up then transferred over the summer, which would mean he was not able to try out until the spring tryouts since they have to have 12 hours at UNT in order to try out.

Since no one offered him, he just enrolled as a regular student. He missed the game so he walked on at North Texas.

Since he's a walk-on, maybe he should try and get #87 to wear.

There's another #87 that's a walk on going through spring ball. Of the walk on WR's, #81 who's about 5'8" 180 and #83 who's about 6'3" 205 seem to stand out and make plays. Also #16 is a walk on/transfer from La Tech and is a good looking kid. Just appears to be getting familar with the offense. Of the walk on's, Davis (83) is definitely making plays and separating from the pack of walk ons.

Speaking of separating, when Stradford (14) lines up in 1 on 1 drills and goes straight down the field on a vertical route, there's about a 3 yard gap between him and the DB once the ball is thrown. Very impressive speed for sure.

Also, Willie Taylor seems to be having a nice camp thus far, always making plays.

Then there's Bennie Jones (18). He can really move and plays the game the right way. Of the practice's I've been to, he stands out for sure. Don't know why Todd Ford didn't like him, but it appears that Canales does. It's not like there's a plethora of athletes who can move like that roaming the sidelines on this team, and I believe Mike knows that, and will utilize him if he performs in practice.
