I know it would be a great opportunity for Coach Jones, but why do these sports writers, MacMahon and Vito, seemingly want Jones to go? Great for JJ to move up, eventually, but he has some unfinished business at UNT.

ONE MORE YEAR JOHNNY!! You're impending NCAA tournament breakthrough next year will land you the LSU Job! Then, you can rebuild at the school you want to be at rather than rebuild Auburn for years, and risk the LSU job being taken by some other up-and-comer between next year and then. Johnson will be on the hot seat and his best player just graduated this year (T. Mitchell).

They are journalists. Not cheerleaders.

Take the school allegiance out of it. Imagine you know a coach who has worked his way up through the ranks, paid his dues, and proven himself. You've gotten to know this a coach and you respect him professionally and like him personally. Would you want to see this person who you like and admire coach for $200,000 in the Sun Belt Conference or for $700,000 in the SEC?

I want Coach Jones to stay here, but he's earned the right for his shot at the bigger stage and the bigger money, and that's all the reporters are saying.

With all my heart I hope we don't lose JJ to the smelly taint of the SEC that is Auburn. But if it happens... we don't need quitters.

You can't call JJ a quitter for moving on to a much better paying, higher profile job. I hope that he stays, but if he does move on for more money and a higher profile school, I wish him the very best.
