Eric Tramiel. He'll need a job. Also:

According to this UNT assistant Bill Foy was a candidate for the Texas-Pan American job and, at least for next year, I wouldn't mind to promote from within.

I know this is crazy, but Avery Johnson attended a North Texas game this year. Way out of our price range to get him out of his cushy ESPN gig/potential NBA coaching jobs, but it's food for thought.

So, how long have you been waiting to break out this list?

For the past 3 years, every time I hear about a decent candidate getting fired elsewhere (or a name mentioned in regards to another job on our level), I've noted names.

I was hoping to keep it in my pocket for another year or two.

EDIT: This is just a list of guys if we decide not to promote from within. I'd be very happy to see ANY of our 3 assistants considered for the job if they don't follow JJ when he does move on.

I really don't think we will need this list till next year. JJ is staying put , mark my word !!

I wouldn't be surprised to see Chuck Person named HC @ Auburn

I really, really hope you're right.

I'd take a bullet for just one more year (if we sign at least 4 in November).

Of these choices, I like Cliff Ellis's resume the best. Too bad he is older than Methuselah.

Kaspar is an oversight, I definitely should have included him.

I didn't put Marlin on there because he's got 12 years at SHSU and I don't know that we'd be enticing enough to get a guy to leave after that long of a tenure. Huntsville sucks, but roots can grow pretty deep in 12 years.

true, but can you imagine what he could do with the talent we have? Nothing against JJ because he will be one of my favorites for a long time, but I think marlin is a better in-game coach.

Kaspar is a guy that I think might be a long-term guy if we hire him. Hopefully.

I would not mind giving Greg wise a chance as an assistant. Like his style, but he may have rubbed a lot of hs coaches the wrong way with how he ran the score up on a lot of them.

Is it not likely that Johnny will want to stay, at least until after next year, to coach what's left of a very good 2009-2010 team ? He's only losing E.T. this year. The whole team must be re-fitted after next year.

You have to seize the moment when opportunity calls. Just ask Jason Garrett.

Well JJ and the boys beat SHSU twice last year.
