That would be a huge get. This kid averaged big numbers in high school (I'm thinking it was 28 ppg or something like that).

In 2011-2012....which may be a "rebuilding year" since we'll have 7 new guys.....we'd have a heckuva start on the rebuilding with a junior 2-guard in Babb, and junior PG in Alzee.

And a junior in Holman

The AD announced last week that the head coach Ed DeChellis will be back for another year. This despite a record of 95-123 & 32-86 in the Big X in 7 seasons.

They looked like they might be turning it around last season too, but went in the tank this year.

Penn State also just got a verbal from a highly regarded SG , Taran Buie

I would say us and Baylor have to be the top 2 teams in the running with TCU also having a outside shot

Baylor has a verbal from SG Bakari Turner out of Plano West. ESPN ranks him as the

#64 SG in the nation

If it's PT he wants , then Denton is the place to be

2011-12 Starting 5 :

Alzee

Babb

Holmen

Edwards

TBA

Baylor also just landed Nolan Dennis last year. Babb would transfer and play as a junior during Nolan's junior year, if he went that route.

I would love to see TBA changed to BoBo. He'll clog the lane, rebound, and get the easy put-backs.

Defensively that's excellent personnel for a 2-3 zone, and for offense that's two sharpshooter's at guard combined with two forwards with good range.

If we land Babb we wouldn't have a spot for Bobo unless someone else leaves (Ben Knox...I'm looking at you)

after attending the kansas state game, it appears we need to make 2 changes to our program:1] add a starting guard taller than 5'8&1/2, and 2] toughen our ocs so that when we do get a ncaa bid, we will be higher than a 15 seed. i think that while its nice to win 20 games, it does little for your seeding if you have a low rpi. we might use w.k.,middle tenn., or even sam houston as an example.just an opinion.

We really need to work on a creative and potent out of conference schedule. It is really unfair to the team to work hard all year and be put in the meat grinder of the 15 or 16 seed. Also, we could sell more home game tickets if our opponents were better known to the general public.

Ben Knox can still develop into a valuable asset for the team. The ideal would be for him to spend his sophomore season bulking up and getting playing time at a juco and then returning to North Texas for the 2011-2012 season. The kid has the frame to potentially be a solid collegiate player, but playing against undersized centers in TAPPS didn't adequately prepare him for the Division 1 game. He really could use a year against tough juco competition and could then return to North Texas the following year, hopefully to split time at center with J'mison Morgan for his junior and senior seasons.

Other schools 'place' these kids at junior colleges, why doesn't North Texas?

Of course there's always a chance that he could go somewhere else after a year in juco, but I think we'd be pretty safe with him already having established himself as a member of this team.

Basketball-wise you may be right. Academic-wise, it is not in his interest. He has been here two years and has already finished the majority of his core classes (I assume). It would be an unwise move for his future because he isn't going pro in basketball.
