With the price of oil on the continual rise of over $80 per barrel why does the U.S. Congress lay dormant in drilling so that we can become energy independent?

With the restrictions placed on our oil and gas companies we have become the slaves to those countries that have the readied supplies to sell at their price. Case in point. Look at the E.U. who is dependent upon the Russian reserves in their country. Look how much we are dependent upon other countries. The United States has plenty of reserves that we can get at now and help drive down the price of oil if we pump it like a prostitue. At the same time we can always explore alternative fuels that will make us independent in the future. However, the future is now....pump it.

The dumbing down of American. Or, reduce the U.S. so it falls in line with other 2nd tier or 3rd world countries. Just unbelievable how we are destroying ourselves from within.
