Don't know about you guys but I'm still peeved at the fact that the Mean Green didn't get the 14 seed on Sunday. I like most of you probably were was at the pourhouse and was incensed to see that Sam Houston got the 14 seed over us. On my way out I had a chance to share a few words with Rick Villareal and he shared similar sentiments...

After comparing stats (which just served to piss me off more) I saw that Sam lost to Lafayette and UTA, two teams that we beat in the regular season. Sure they played Kentucky and I'm sure that was a factor in that getting that seed but they still lost by 10 points. Whats worse is that they get Baylor, one of the more overrated teams in the tournament.

Heres Sams record on rivals:

SHSU record

Heres ours:

NTX record

Just for posterity heres one of the links from another post that founds my argument even more.

Team Report

So what do yall think??? I know our Mean Green are going to give K-State hell!!!! Go get em boys.

@ Wardly, I knew that the FIU incident would be brought up, but I honestly don't feel that's a good enough reason for Sam to get a better seed than us. We've got a really impressive winning streak going right now which could possibly negate that. But as for Kentucky... Ive got a problem with Sagarins ratings altogether but ill save that for another post...

If JJ would have gotten the guys ready for Boise St. trip it would not be an issue, then add in early losses to FIU and ULL, plus a weak OOC and we get what we get. I am just happy to see them in the tournament, as for Baylor being overrated?? Many have them beating Nova and possibly Duke in the easiest region.

I agree. Baylor is big and athletic. Glad we avoided them.

I was looking at all the 13 and 14 seeds schedules. I cannot fathom how any computer or group of individuals could possibly give Ohio that high of a seed. Houston is another one that is a head scratcher.

I am sure that K-State is not exactly thrilled about having to play UNT, especially in OKC. I expect us to put up a fight and not be a team that will go down easily, like most 15 seeds do.

Baylors young and cocky my friend. I'm not saying they don't deserve to be in the tourney by any means (although I believe the Aggies should have their seed)but I wouldn't count Sam Houston out of an upset which is another reason for me to be ticked at their 14 seed. I wouldn't pick them to advance past the sweet 16 in my brackets because if Sam doesn't get em I bet ND will... They are just too cocky, which in my opinion has them begging to be upset despite their weak bracket.

You've probably dismissed Kentucky, too?

Not hardly. Besides following the sunbelt I follow the big 12 a bit too and honestly I just don't think Baylor has what it takes to compared with Kansas or even K-State for that matter. Mark my words, first or second round and they are done... As for Kentucky, everyone knows they are legendary in terms of NCAA basketball right there with Duke, UNC, Kansas, Michigan State, and etc...

Nothing wrong with being young and cocky. The Fab 5 was definitely young and cocky, and they did pretty well. Besides, Baylor isn't all that young anyway. I think they start 1 Senior, 2 Juniors, and 2 Sophomores. I have them going far in my bracket.

I agree there's nothing wrong with walking with a bit of swagger but... Its like dealing with a kid that picks a fight on the grade school playground, I'd be more willing to punch the kid that talks a lot of noise in the mouth (Baylor) than I would the kid that never talks at all (K-State etc..), you never know what they are thinking... Just my opinion though... I see the passion that both Kansas teams play with and its scary good, I just don't see it as much with Baylor, or Texas for that matter.

I'm just asking if you are applying the same Baylor logic to Kentucky. Because they are very young and athletic...probably moreso than Baylor.

There's not a doubt in my mind that Kentucky is more athletic than Baylor, I mean kids grow up dreaming about playing for teams like Kentucky and I think that makes the difference... The fact that KY has had a whole host of awesome coaches throughout the years doesn't hurt either.
