Many citizens have no idea that members of Congress don't pay into Social Securityare specifically exempt from many of the laws they have

passed while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.. The latest

is to exempt themselves from the Health care Reform that is being

considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We

should not have any group that is above the law. We shouldn't care if they are

Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the

United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or

Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to theSenators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens

of the United States".

This was sent to me in an email...not my words or my idea, but I think this has some potential merit for consideration. While I dio not think it is worthy of a new constitutional amendment, it is something that may need to be considered as law. Thoughts? On the other hand, unless the whole make-up of congress changes, I don't give such a concept much hope. Interesting concept though it might be.....

I, too received that proposal in the mail. The idea certainly has merit but I see no way to get that to happen.

Congress will not pass a law that undermines their current power and benefits. That includes their retirement benefits, disallowing amendments that are not pertinent to the bill being voted on, term limits, pay raises, and health benefits.

Only when the populace rises up and demands that the candidate embrace at least one of these concepts will change be possible.

Just another example of class warfare. Maybe if you applied yourself and had the work ethic of these men and women and ran for office and made laws you too could have their benefits...but no, you're like every other Socialist in this country and just want to redistribute...if someone else has something better than you you want to tear them down rather than strive to be more like them and achieve!

This is not the country I grew up in
