According to the 2010 Census website, it is about 10 questions.

Looking at the questions, it looks like nothing evasive - gender, racial background, number of residents, their DOBs.

Perhaps I missed something then... It is the American Community Survey that I don't want to answer... either way. But thanks for pointing out that my paranoia wasn't needed.

It sounds like the new ACS is what I was objecting to and though it is a small population sample, I am curious about its implications and its the way in which participants are selected however, due to the fact that I have not yet been contacted in regards to a political poll I will assume the odds of me receiving this survey are about the same.

Because the government doesn't need to know how many bathrooms I have, how many cars I drive and how far I drive to work, whether I have a fireplace or gas heat, what I feed my dog, or any of the other ridiculous questions they asked in 2000.

The Constitution requires a count of all people. That's it.

I'll probably fill out the census in it's entirety, but...

That's the same rationale I used for not joining the "National Do not Call List". Doesn't the federal gov't have enough data on me?

Plus, when telemarketers call, it gives me a reason to vent uncontrollably.

1. Wouldn't you rather know how many bullets I have?

2. 6:30 am like clock work!

3. What is that, Northern Lights? Hell, yeah!

So, you don't want to answer the question and talk in circles? It's pretty simple. How about Fox and Friends (only when they report on the news of the day), America's Newsroom, Happening now, and America Live, all which run during the day and basically report the news. Do you think there is a slant in their reporting?

This is the last time I will try and get a direct answer, although by calling it FAUX news, I think you have already given it.

In a word, YES!

Dude, that is soooo East Texas/Longview. If I remember correctly, you are from them parts. Anyway, a buddy and I have a long(since 1982) running joke about that line we hear every time we go back. Another is "whut would you want a truck for if it wudn't 4 wheel drive." Anyway, I could start an entire thread on East Texasisms.

I guess I just disagree with your premise then. I personally don't watch news because I want it to agree with my point of view, I just want to know what is going on. I don't need to watch something that tells me how I should feel, or puts emphasis on what they think is important. I guess that's why I don't watch much news on the TV.

Love this post.

Living in Austin now I tell people, "I was born here, but when I was about 5 my dad decided we didn't live amongst enough rednecks and hicks and moved us to Longview."

I do have fond memories of growing up in Longview. Not least of which is the ability to laugh at yourself. I have some GREAT redneck friends. Another thread, another time.
