I'm looking to book a hotel for the extended weekend and was wondering where everyone else is staying.

The Mean Green club has reserved rooms at Baymont on the Lake, but that's pretty far from the convention center. The cheapest place available close to Summit is the Howard Johnson ($68/night).

I made our reservation at the Hampton Inn in December. They didn't have anything at the Embassy Suites at that time. I checked back yesterday to see if anything had freed up and there are some two room, two double bed suites available now, I believe. I didn't check the Austin again. The Hampton is supposedly 6 miles from the arena area.

GMG!

I had to call the Austin to get the special rate, $85 a night I think. It's the same rate the team has as Soho said.

I hear the Austin is a little run down and old, but it's where the men's team stayed last year too, so I figured it can't be too bad. The Austin and Embassy Suites are by far the two with the best location.

The Austin is attached to the convention center and arena (but not as close as Embassy). The past owners had financial problems and it was getting raggedy. I don't know if that has improved, at one point they lost their liquor license due to unpaid taxes. The situation there is different from the Arlington. The Arlington stays so freakin full the owners won't do a major renovation because they don't want to lose the steady income.

Bump

Where is everyone staying and where is a good place to eat at before the game sunday night ??

We can probably do a cookout at our place. It's on Ramble street, very close to the team hotel (if I'm not mistaken).

Anyone who'd be interested in a bring your own meat/alcohol cookout sometime around 4:00-6:00, let me know.

One of my favorite things to do....was to be there for the team send-off before each game. It's at the team hotel....an hour and a half before the game. So if it's a 8:30 game....it'd be at approximately 7. The band and cheerleaders and dancers are there....as well as the fans who show up.
