Did I see that right.... a High School coach?

Chip Lindsey is the new QB coach. He was the head coach at Lassiter High School in Atlanta. His teams have been very, very good offensively and he’s got quite a resume. He has also produced many top-rated recruits.

Interesting... That seems familiar

I heard Troy signed 20 new coaches to their staff, but don't expect all of them on campus next year.

Yep, and Tulsa just hired former Lake Travis HS HC, Chad Morris, to be their Co-Offensive Coordinator.

The biggest difference between these two hires and ours is that the above coaches will have time to adapt and grow into the college game with an experienced college staff, whereas Todd Dodge was basically thrown into the fire and forced to learn on the fly. Several HS coaches have made successful transitions from HS HC to college position coach and then onto college HC, but few have done so in jumping straight from HS HC to college HC.

Yeah, this is a fairly common practice. Some H.S. coaches just don't have the grades to make it in division 1 football... so sad.

They will probably send them to a JC to coach for a couple of years and resign them at that point.

I believe it when I see it. They have yet to pass their NCAA IQ test yet. They need to score a minimum of 117.

A valid argument if you believe 2 years at the D-II level is enough time to adapt and grow into coaching against FBS schools. Also, it would be foolish to consider the 95-06 years to be anything close to resembling coaching at the FBS level. I think 07-09 has proven that statement.

You have to throw out he 1907-1909 seasons. The tuberculosis pandemic wiped out all the positional coaches. Not a fair comparison.
