Posting mobile links to the forum = not good, but I'll give you a +1 for the effort. In addition, I'll post another link to an NBC story, with reader comments.

Canales: From Bulls' Green to Mean Green

  1. Pier588 says: January 29, 2010 1:41 PM ET North Texas must be a school that is willing to accept "mediocracy" and a goal of winning 6 or less games a year in a coach. Maybe they'll hire Leavitt in come capacity as well.

In response to the reader comment - Hell yes, we're willing to accept "mediocracy" and winning 6 games in a year!!! :P Have you seen our record?? We haven't won 6 games in the last three years.

Obviously, Canales fell out of favor with some, if not many, of the USF fans.

Good stuff. I know I'm now excited and I know you are too.

However hickoryhouse, I will remind you how excited we were about last year's team. And then it was all down hill from week 2 on.

Or the Dodge hire in 2007?

Appears to be a nice hire, but let's see some results.

I still say if the OT loss to Ohio in the home opener had not occurred, we win 5 games more in 2009. After the confidence builder against Ball State, the disgusting finish against Ohio pretty well sunk any confidence for the rest of the season. I will never understand how with 4th and 15 to go in O/T you can manage to give up a T D pass and get called for roughing the passer as well---only at North Texas!!!!!

Hey I had little hope after RV said he was staying with Dodge and his staff, even with this ultimatum of 7 wins. But I thought Ford would probably need to go to see real results I think what I heard about practice and maybe TFLF's posts convinced me that a real D1a OC would help. I am very excited now because I do think it is just what the doctor ordered. I can see us with a real shot at 7 games in the W column next season.

Yes the proof is in the pudding, the mean green pudding is looking better all the time.

Pier88 was not accurate. Most people on the boards I have read have had a positive view of Coach Canales. This is what the next poster said in response to Pier88.

That makes little sense since USF have won more than 6 games every year during his tenure there with the exception of the inaugural year.

They went to 4 straight Bowl games and he coached up Matt Grothe and BJ Daniels.
