Boise State To Mwc?

Where are you hearing this? Interesting proposition that would make a lot of sense for Boise. What would the fall out look like with this news?

Started hearing this on another fairly reliable board at about 2:30 today. Third hand so far, and no links yet. I'll post if it gains any legs. May be nothing, so take it FWIW.

There's been a lot of chatter about this being virtually a done deal since October, but nothing really formal to point to. I always dismissed it as wishful thinking by a few loud folks, but would be quite the domino mover if it went down.

I always take conference jump reports in the media with a large grain of salt. Those reported on bbs I don't even consider. Yes, when conference jumps do happen they often are reported on bbs far in advance. But, you can probably find some message on some bbs reporting a rumor of every FBC school joining every FBC conference. Even a broken watch is right twice a day. The MWC claims to much higher academic standards than the WACy schools. Of course, they have Wyoming which is far from poor but certainly not what you would call a public ivy.

I believe conference jumps when real journalists (not blogs) who actually need two reputable sources before they type are the one's reporting.

Don't waist your time reading the rest! according to wac rules, a member must give notice by july 1st, 2010, in order to leave conference for 2011 season[google mwc realignment] if they go to 12, bosie, fresno are probably in, with houston or nevada according to speculation.

From what I've heard, they will add Boise if they're adding just one team. If they're adding 3 teams it will come from (in order of the preference that I've heard, no homer pick here): Fresno St, Houston, Tulsa, Nevada, UTEP, and SMU. I really don't see them taking UTEP or SMU. I think the lack of another good Western school makes it unlikely they will add more than Boise at this time because I'm not sure they really want Nevada all that badly.

A brief comment -

When the MWC was formed they did not invite UTEP. I believe it had a lot to do with the amount of commitment UTEP was placing on athletics at the time. As far as CUSA they (UTEP) saw it as an improvement over the WAC and a way to be in with other Texas schools. Also, and they will not admit it, there was no way UTEP wanted to stay in the same conference that NMSU was going to be in.
