Congrats to our very own Brian Waters for being named a finalist for the NFL Man of the Year Award for excellence on and off the field. A great honor and privilege to be named to the final three.

Can't think of anyone better to receive this award. GO MEAN GREEN

Bump. Waters was the best Tight End to play for North Texas who became a Pro Bowl Lineman in the NFL.

In all seriousness, I cannot remember if he played TE his entire career here, or just his last year in 95. Anyone else remember?

I thought he played a year on the defensive side of the ball too?

I thought the same thing, but couldn't be definitive. So my next question is this: Did Waters ever play on the OL at UNT?

I read somewhere that Waters was sent over to NFL Europe to learn to play offensive line after he was cut by the Cowboys. Seems like that worked out very well because he has turned out to be one of the best in the league. Future NFL Hall of Famer??

I believe he moved to the defensive line his senior year. I think he actually played on both sides of the ball as a senior. He was a backup TE and even played some FB, but most of his time was spent on the defensive line.
