Knew this was coming. This just means that the Republicans will be bought and payed for by big business, while the Dems will be bought and paid for by the Unions (as so clearly demonstrated in the Health Care tax initiative). Neither a very good solution. Unfortunately, this pesky thing called the constitution keeps getting in the way of limiting contributions by ANY legal organization or private citizen.

TERM LIMIT. The only answer (notice term is singular).

Don't we have "term limit"? I think a few currently in office sure think we do after the election in Mass. But, I do see you point.

Think about why there was a run off election in Mass. and get back to me on that.

Perhaps I mistook what you what you wrote, but I think a politicians term should be ended by something other than death.

Way too far off the point...my point was...there are some current politicians who, after taking a look at the Mass results this week, are thinking their "term" is at its limit! Let me make it even clearer for you...there are some sitting congressmen and senators who are afraid that after seeing the results in Mass that they may not get elected.

There you go.

Thanks for making my point. The only thing they are worried about is gettting re-elected. They are not worried about what is best for the people of this country, just what it will take to keep their precious seat at the table of power. Sure, some will moderate their position, but only until the current political climate wanes (read: recession is over) and Americans forget about all that happened the past year. After that, it's business as usual for the hypocrites that will say anything to keep their seat.

This is a great day for anyone who believes in free speech.

Contributions should be unlimited, and the records of who gives what remain totally transparent. That is the ONLY solution that abides by the Free Speech clause of the First Amendment. No limits on political spending and contributions, full transparency.

It's not like this just overturned McCain-Feingold.

This ruling strikes me as far more activist in nature than many other rulings in recent history that have been accused of being activist. There was a tremendous amount of precedent and long-standing statute that was thrown out the window by this majority decision.

For some states, this struck down a century's worth of legislation on curbing campaign contributons.
