So, are you watching the vote in Mass today to elect the candidate that will replace Teddy Kennedy in the Senate? This is a VERY BIG DEAL to both parties. It is amazing that Ted Kennedy's seat would be in doubt at all for the dems, but that is definitely the case. Brown (by the way...his daughter was an American Idol finalist....a little trivia for the day) may well defeat Coakly and tip the scales of the Senate so that the dems would no longer hold a filibuster-proof majority.

The very fact that the dems are in trouble here...win or lose today...says a great deal. The citizens of Mass are very much opposed to Obama's health care plan and that is not helping to hold the seat. Plus the fact that Coakly is so very "out of touch"...going so far as to call Curt Schilling a Yankees fan...and not wanting to campaign on the streets of Mass....even young Joe Kennedy couldn't get her name right....is not helping her campaign at all. The dems may still hold this seat, but it is an amazing turn of events that the seat held by Ted Kennedy "forever" is even in play!

I will keep my fingers crossed for a wonderful outcome! the possibilities simply warm my heart, but it will be interesting either way it goes.

I'm more interested in the sequence of events that may happen after the election if Brown does win the Senate seat as it relates to the merging of the House and Senate version of the Health Care bill. How badly do the Democrats want to pass the bill if they lose their super majority in the Senate?

They will try to pass the Senate version as it stands in a panic.

Is it this, in a state that already has government mandated health care?

OR IS IT THIS, IN A STATE THAT IDENTIFIES ITSELF AROUND THE SPORTS TEAMS IN IT'S LARGEST CITY?

But hey, if you guys need a moral victory and want to declare this as some sort of rebuke on national policy...feel free. Way to only be down 18 seats...solid Wade Phillips-esque victory.

Its called States Rights, which is what they wanted with their failed State Run Healthcare, not having an out of touch Congress forcing Gov't Healthcare mandates on everyone. Let the states and cities decide what they want not some National mandate.

Ever hear of the 10th amendment? That is what the folks are so mad about. Yes, they have a pretty well documented budget-busting state health care system in Mass. What they don't want is the federal gov't to come in and mandate a plan for them. Even in a lib state like Mass, many folks care about the 10th amendmant and badly want the federal gov't's hands out of their state business.

"Moral victory" my rear end! If Brown wins in Mass (and the jury is still definitely out on that at this time) this will be so very much more than a "moral victory". But, go ahead a get the "spin" going if you want just in case Brown does win. "Moral victory"...if you think a Brown victory would not be a rebuke of Obama's policies you are smokin' something wacky! Interesting how the spin has already started and the winner hasn't even been declared as yet! The "moral victory" thought will come if Brown loses a very close election. That, given that it was Ted's seat for so many years, would indeed, be a moral victory of sorts. But, I hold out great hope for the victory of a more concrete kind in this election. We'll all know which it is in a few short hours. You never know, some "community group" may mobilize all those "registered dem voters" and push Coakley over the top!

I hope not...I pray for a Brown victory!

A. What I smoke has nothing to do with this discussion

B. The democrats could've trotted out an actual donkey...or hell, better yet, an elephant...a real, live, pooping elephant, fitted it with a Paul Pierce jersey, popped a Red Sox cap between it's massive ears and taught it to eat chowder while listening to the Dropkick Murphey's and walked away with with the election 60/40.

Saying that a Brown victory is some sort of national referendum on health care is like saying that the above situation would cause one to ask whether or not elephants are actually better suited to run the country than humans.

The only political commentary that really comes out of this whole story is that this woman can get away with saying these moronic things and the election is actually still in doubt. Schilling is this generation's Sox fan's Staubach...imagine running for office in Texas and calling Roger an Eagle fan...and to get things on par, gay as well. You're not winning. Regardless of party.

It looks like you are doing a good job at spinning...before the winner has been declared. Good job.

You picked up on that, didn't you? Good job...others let it go and didn't even respond. I thought it might draw out a few...oh, well...there's always another post. :clapping:

And to ignore the significance of a Republican taking Kennedy's seat (the first Republican from Massachusetts since Edward Brooke, who was also the first African American to be elected Senator) is just what I want Democrats to do.

First they lost the Governorships of New Jersey and Virginia, now they are about to lose Ted Kennedy's seat which has been held by a Democrat since JFK beat Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. in 1953. In what is arguably the most poisonous political climate for republicans since the Civil War, Democrats are losing seats they should not be losing.

Why? Who cares, as long as they continue to lose.

In a state where all 10 House of Rep seats are elected Democrats, in an election where Brown has made National Health Care the main issue, with an initially popular democratic candidate (until she opened her mouth) who had a 30 point lead in November.

I really hope this causes the "Health Care Bill" (read - huge tax increase) to go away. The Dems can either have this bill, or face the possibility of losing elections in November that they now think are safe for them. Tough times for the majority party.

What about Cleveland?

I had some great pastrami in Cleveland, two places were pretty great. I wish Dallas had a pastrami sandwich as good

Slyman's & Corky and Lenny's

I would favor Corky and Lenny's

Slyman's Restaurant

Corky & Lenny's

I also heard the pierogies in Cleveland are outstanding there, but I ran out of time last September. Though Pittsburgh is said to have the best pierogies, and stuffed cabbage.
