With national signing day quickly approaching, I was curious to see how our conference mates are doing in 2010 recruiting. It looks like the SBC is gaining some respectability within the high school recruiting circles. Some of these guys look like they might warrant a last-minute call by the UNT coaching staff?? I'm just sayin'

Brion Carnes, 4-star, #7 ranked dual-threat QB by Rivals, had previously committed to South Florida but is now reconsidering amid the coaching changes. He's scheduled to visit Nebraska on 1/22 and Western Kentucky on 1//29.

Rajaan Bennett, 4-star, #16 ranked RB by Rivals, is uncommitted and scheduled to visit Vanderbilt on 1/22 and Western Kentucky on 1/29. His top four are Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Tennessee (no offer) and Western Kentucky.

Tarean Austin, 3-star, #20 ranked dual-threat QB by Rivals, currently lists his top 3 as FIU, New Mexico and Western Kentucky. He visited FIU on 1/15 and will visit Western Kentucky on 1/22. He also holds offers from Iowa State, Purdue, Richmond, South Florida, Towson and UCF.

David Piland, QB Southlake Carroll, a Rivals 3-star 33 ranked pro-style QB, previously committed to Houston in August. However, his primary recruiter, Dana Holgorsen, has taken the OC position at Oklahoma State. Piland has not publicly said he is reconsidering. His only other offers are from Towson, Portland State and Western Kentucky.

Qudral Forte, #73 ranked athlete and Rivals 3-star prospect, has offers from East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Mississippi and North Carolina. But, he has listed his top 5 as MTSU, UAB, West Virginia and Toledo (from all of which he holds offers). He has visits scheduled with MTSU on 1/22, Western Kentucky on 1/25 (has yet to receive an offer from WK) and UAB on 1/29.

Khari Burke, #78 ranked CB and Rivals 3-star, has narrowed his top 3 list to Bowling Green, Central Michigan and MTSU (visited on 1/15). He also had offers from FAU and Western Kentucky, among others, but no longer appears to be interested.

Justen Davis, Rivals #83 ranked WR and 3-star rating, has offers from Delaware, FIU, Louisville, Toledo and Towson, listing "medium" interest in each. He also lists interest in Western Kentucky but does show a scheduled visit or offer.

Bernard Reedy, #87 ranked athlete and 3-star Rivals prospect, lists his top 5 as Indiana, Iowa State, Mississippi State (no offer), North Carolina (no offer) and Western Kentucky. The only visits Rivals shows Reedy has made/scheduled are to Toledo on 10/24 and WK on 1/29.

Matt Faulkner, un-ranked 3-star Rivals pro-style QB (5.6 rating), visited WK on 1/15 and has offers from WK (visited on 1/15), McNeese St., San Jose St. and Towson.

Mark Gooch, nationally un-ranked but #15 in Tennessee, 3-star Rivals WR (5.6 rating), has offers from Arkansas State, MTSU and Syracuse with "medium" interest in all.

Rodney Davis, nationally un-ranked but #34 in Alabama, 3-star WR (5.6 rating) has offers from Arkansas State, Southern Miss, Stanford, Troy and WK, with "medium" interest in all.

Jawan Jamison, #20 ranked all-purpose back and rivals 3-star prospect (5.6 rating) lists Clemson, Rutgers and South Carolina (no offer) as his top choices. However, he has offers from Troy and FAU (visisted on 1/8)

Michael Carlisle, 29 ranked ILB and Rivals 3-star prospect (5.6 rating) has offers from Hampton, MTSU, Miss. State, Southern Miss and Toledo, with "medium" interest in each.

Claude Johnson, #32 ranked dual-threat QB and 3-star Rivals prospect (5.6 rating), has offers from Central Arkansas and La-Monroe.

Kendall Montgomery, #31 ranked TE and 3-star Rivals prospect (5.6 rating) has offers from FIU and Purdue.

Sybrhrain Berry, #53 ranked CB and Rivals 3-star prospect (5.7 rating), visited Arkansas State on 12/15 and lists them as his top choice, although he only has an offer from Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Tevin Drake, un-ranked, 3-star Rivals RB prospect (5.6 rating) - has offers from FIU, FAU, Memphis and Miami, FL with "medium" interest in each.

Jamaal Bass, #52 ranked OLB, 3-star Rivals prospect (5.6 rating) lists FIU and Ole Miss as his only two offers.

Glenn Coleman, #81 ranked WR, 3-star Rivals prospect (5.6 rating) shows "medium" interest and offers from FIU, La-Tech, La-Lafayette, La-Monroe, Southern Miss and Tulsa. He's also interested in LSU but has no offer.

Eric Watson, #68 ranked RB, 3-star Rivals prospect (5.6 rating) - offers from MTSU and Arkansas State

Robert Boswell, #76 ranked RB, 3-star Rivals RB (5.6 rating) - offers from FIU, Toledo and Towson.

Leon Francois, #81 ranked CB, 3-star Rivals prospect (5.6 rating) - has offers from Arkansas and La-La with "medium" interest in each

Matt Jones, unranked DE, but 3-star Rivals prospect (5.6 rating) shows his only offer is from FIU

Dezmond Johnson, un-ranked 3-star Rivals DE prospect (5.6 rating) - has offers from Arkansas State, Duke, MTSU (visited 1/15), Mississippi and Purdue with "medium" interest in each.

I ONLY listed those prospects that SBC schools appear to have a reasonable possibility of signing and only those that have a minimum Rivals rating of 5.6 as of today, 1/18/10.

Honestly, when I started this post, I didn't think it would be anywhere near this long or I would have organized the prospects better (i.e. position, ranking, etc).

Most of these guys from my original post are still uncommitted. However, the following have made verbals with only one committing to a SBC school:

Justen Davis, Rivals #83 ranked WR and 3-star rating, has offers from Delaware, FIU, Louisville, Toledo and Towson, listing "medium" interest in each. He also lists interest in Western Kentucky but does show a scheduled visit or offer.

***Committed to Towson State***

Matt Faulkner, un-ranked 3-star Rivals pro-style QB (5.6 rating), visited WK on 1/15 and has offers from WK (visited on 1/15), McNeese St., San Jose St. and Towson. ***Committed to San Jose State***

***Committed to FIU*** Also, his new position ranking is #79.

Dezmond Johnson, un-ranked 3-star Rivals DE prospect (5.6 rating) - has offers from Arkansas State, Duke, MTSU (visited 1/15), Mississippi and Purdue with "medium" interest in each. ***Committed to Duke***
