Spring practice starts March 23 thru the Spring Game on Sunday April 11....

George served as UNT’s offensive coordinator at Carroll in the 2002 and 2003 seasons and was a head coach at both Haltom and Dallas Hillcrest high schools.

Huh? That statement doesn't make any sense.

I think he meant that George served as Dodge's offensive coordinator at Carroll...

I wonder if they would be willing to dish out the cash for a new offensive coordinator with there being a chance that whoever they select might be the next head coach?

No matter who the Mean Green select as the new OC, half here will be pleased and supportive and the other half of "usual suspects" will be as negative as always. That's a prediction I think I can "take to the bank".

I really question if Dodge is really the one who is searching and will make the hire. I think RV has a huge hand in who Dodge is looking at and will bring in.

I doubt it unless Dodge specifically asked him. Remember, RV specifically said he was not going to impose a staff on Dodge while also imposing a performance demand. If Dodge doesn't succeed, then the staff he didn't pick could well be the reason/excuse. As Bill Parsells said, "If they expect you to cook the dinner, then they have to let you do get the groceries."

Dallas, I think that Todd Ford made a good decision for him. The job as a HC at a new HS probably looks a lot more secure to him than being OC at North Texas. Especially with the "sword of Damocles" hanging over everyone's head this season.

I've said this in another thread, but it would take someone who has any college coaching experience to be desperate or delusional about their abilities to apply for the OC position this season.

Austin paper reports that Ford's salary will be close to $90,000. Don't know what he was making at UNT.

Well, there are plenty of recently available, quality college coaches that may be in the beginning stages of desperation mode out there right now. I'm sure one or two of them are delusional as well. I hear where you're coming from but I don't view our situation as that dire. Most assistant coaches don't have multi-year contracts. In fact, most assistant contracts are for one-year terms anyway, so I don't understand why job security would be a big concern for a position coach looking to put the title of offensive coordinator on his resume. Besides, I'm not sure I want a coach who isn't confident he can come here and make an immediate difference. Salary, on the other hand, will be a huge factor in who we are able to land.

According to the coaching database USAToday published last fall, Ford was making $93,000 as UNT's OC. If we can't increase that salary to a minimum of $150K, we're going to get crap for an OC.

A guy who is out of a job due to a coaching change might take it on a one-year basis.
