Tech Hires Tuberville

Tuberville did say early on in this process he would keep the spread at Tech if hired. It was also mentioned in the link above, Quote: "Last week, Myers told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal that Tuberville told him he would keep the Red Raiders' aerial offense in place and wanted to maintain continuity in the program, which hasn't had a losing season since 1992." He said he would make some changes on the defensive side.

Tuberville did say early on in this process he would keep the spread at Tech if hired. He also will keep some or all of the present staff, was not insistent on bringing his on. Not sure if I like that or not if it were here at NT. If you want change, then change. As for him not being much on the spread, he did hire Tony Franklin from Troy to install the offense at Auburn. I am sure Scotty Young from Denton hopes Tuberville likes the spread.

He (Young) was quoted in the DRC saying that he would like to stay if the OC stays , but wasn't 100% sure yet. I've been told by people close to him that if Young is drafted high enough in the amateur baseball draft that he will sign with that team , thus ending is football career.

So how is it TTU can hire a coach 7 days later, while we had to wait for the 30 day period?

I don't know where this belief came from in the first place. With the exception of SMU, I'm pretty sure other Texas schools with recent coaching changes didn't wait 30 days to announce their new coach either. If anyone in our administration stated such it was probably just to stall for time while Dodge finished coaching SLC to the state championship. That, or someone mis-interpreted some law they mistakenly believed applied to non-teaching positions.

Let me know when you find this out.....we seem to be the only school in Texas that has to wait 30 days.

I may be in the minority , but I think Tech fans will regret this hire in just 2 years

I am shocked Tuberville wanted the job. I think it is a great hire for them.

When I was VP Finance/Adm, at El Paso CC personnel was under me....we had to wait 30 days for every hire we made...I don't know how or if a football coach is different
