Contracts still have to be signed so things can easily change , but for now this is what we are looking at :

09/04 @ Clemson

09/11 vs Rice

09/18 @ Army

11/27 vs K State

* Troy is set for 10/23

Cmon... Schedule an FCS team. You get an extra home game, and you have a better chance of winning

Many of us have been saying that for years.

I think now, though, it'd be too embarassing to invite Texas State up and have them hands our a*ses to us at home. Being the school that has had to stave off losses to Western Kentucky in the fourth quarter for three years in a row is one thing - losing to a full-fledged FCS school at home would be another animal altogether.

Abilene Christian still in play?

I don't think wins against D-II opponents count toward bowl eligibility like against FCS schools does it, or is the wording just non-FBS opponents?

NT has been playing FCS schools for years. Troy was an FBS/FCS transitional when we first played them in 2001... I don't think that they were really certified as full Div I until they joined the Belt. FAU and FIU were transitional FCS schools for 2 years and we played both of them during that time. Western Kentucky has been transitional until this year, they just finished their first season as a Div I FBS school. We have South Alabama lined up for 2012 and 2013 for their transitional years to FBS as well. So we have been playing FCS/Div IAA schools pretty much on a regular basis since 2001 but they have all been transitioning to FBS in one way or another.

No...ACU is DII below FCS but UNT should want their head coach Chris Thomsen who has done an excellent job and led the 'Cats to the playoffs several years in a row.

Raise your hand if you can lay claim to witness a Mean Green shutout of Troy!

That was a decidedly different Troy team, however I can say I witnessed it in person. We played a bit of defense in those days. Ran the ball a little too, as I recall. Wish I could remember who was the coach during all that...
