Navy head football coach Ken Niumatalolo had one of the most successful first seasons as a head coach in school history. He is the first coach to lead Navy to a bowl game in his inaugural season and, thanks to a 33-27 victory over Air Force and a 34-0 win over Army, he became just the second Service Academy coach to win the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy in his first year.

In routing Mizzouri today Navy finished only their 3rd ever 10 win season with a 2nd year head coach.

Impressivie, even for a Coach who follows someone who left for greener pastures in Paul Johnson. He by no means left that program in shambles.

No, as neither did most of the outgoing coaches around the country. In fact, I can only think of one coach who took over a program in "shambles" and that was Forest Gregg at SMU.

When Stoops took over OU they were in "shambles", at lest be their standards. John Blake had 3 straight losing seasons (3-8,4-8, and 5-6). It was OU's first time in like 80 years OU had 3 straight losing seasons. In stoops first season, OU went 7-5, with a trip to the Independence Bowl. They lost to Ol' Miss 25-27. In 2000, we all know they went 13-0 and won the National Title.

Stoops won with Blake's players in his first year, and won the National Title in year 2.

To be honest, I think our 97 team could have beat OU's 97 team. They were only 4-8.

You guys really want to talk about shambles ? I mean ...real shambles ? How about Jack Lengyel who took over Marshall U who didn't even have a team after the tragic plane crash killed almost everyone involved in the football program in 1970

His 1st 3 years without his players , without any returning starters , without any upperclassman , without nothing he managed to go 8 - 23 in his 1st 3 seasons.

Meh. His assistant coach was just happy to be off the island.

      And this shouldn’t make you panic , but note that all of these rosters run circles around ours. And considering we have about 2/3 of our roster already filled like you said…THAT’s concerning. So like I said this last batch of transfers need to be solid.

      Is it necessary to be asked ? How about just buying season tickets and the required donation that goes with it ? Here’s a news flash…Your school can use your financial support. The school in your community can use your support even though you’re not an alum. Rather than whine that nobody contacts you, write a check and attend home games.

      as for the other programs we're concerned with...let's really take a look. USF looks close to full and really solid...I'm impressed. UAB, Memphis and WSU all look well worse off so far considering what they're losing.       I think patience is the key when working the portal at UNT. Without the big NIL money, we will have to wait and see who is left after the big boys get their guys. There will still be some really good players left. That is the world we live in now. I have confidence that D-Rob will get some quality transfers to fill out the roster.
