Just bored and taking a look back of how the 11 non AQ coaches who were hired after the 2006 season have fared so far. Records of previous coaches are for the last 3 years of the program before the new hire arrived. 1 point is awarded for each victory more than the previous coach , 1 point for each bowl birth more than the previous coach (-1 for each less bowl births) , 2 pt for each bowl victory more than the previous coach (-2 for each less bowl victories of previous coach).

Air Force

Retired: Fisher DeBerry : 13 - 21 (0 Bowls)

Hired : Troy Calhoun : 24 - 14 (3 Bowls)

Grade : +14 pts *Pending a Bowl game* <11 more wins , 3more bowl births>

CMU

New Gig :Brian Kelly: 20 - 16 ( 1 Bowls)

Hired: Butch Jones : 27 -13 (3 Bowls)

Grade : +7 pts < 7 more wins , 2 more bowls , 1 less bowl win>

Tulsa:

New Gig : Kragthorpe : 21 - 19 ( 2 Bowls)

Hired : Todd Graham : 26 - 14 ( 2 Bowls)

Grade : +7 pts <5 more wins , 1 more bowl win>

Rice

Fired/New Gig :Hatfield/Graham : 11 - 24 ( 1 Bowls)

Hired: David Baliff 15 - 22 ( 1 Bowls)

Grade : +6 pts < 4 more wins , 1 more bowl win >

LaTech

I think your system needs graduated levels, what is an A, B, C, D, and F?

Plus points should probably be awarded for taking over a fired coaches position vs retirement or moved to new gig. They definitely seem to have an advantage, both in common sense and in the small statical pool you have here.

I was going to do grades , but I thought some may complain that I was being negative in doing so.

No matter what point system anyone comes up with , is there anyway Dodge is not ranked last of all the hires ?

Does your analysis factor in how effectively the new coaches are training players to be quality husbands and fathers someday?

Because I hear we've got that going for us.
