I wasn't able to get to the traditional family gathering we always have on Christmas Eve, and didn't realize until today, when I called my sister, that there still hadn't been enough of a thaw for them to get out and get groceries or any other errands; they were unable to get out of their driveways. They were "cat sitting" for another sister, and my niece was able to drive (maybe her car was already on the street, whatever. Some folks stranded on 287 were still there late last night (Christmas). I just thought I'd post this link to their local newspaper's web site to let people know what's going on not too far from here:

I didn't get to go home this year ( Iowa Park). My parents couldn't even open their front door due to the ice/snow. They were able to get out their garage and borrow a big John Deere tractor and were shuttling hot plates of food to folks along 287 ( my mom loves to cook for people)

My sister and her family left to go skiing about 6p on Christmas day. They said it took 3 hours just to get from one side of WF to the other, 9 hours total from Southlake to Amarillo.
