This is what happens when a conservative feels the need to attend to his image and try to impress his peers. Stupid, Rush, very stupid. No matter what you do, you will never be loved by your media counterparts. Just accept it already.

...because him stating on radio that he loves his animals and supports an organization is the same as him telling you how to live your life.

I love listening to people who don't listen to the guy talk like they have a f'in clue. ROTFLMAO!

F&S's selection of Rush Limbaugh as their "villain of the year" speaks far more to their political leanings than to any enmity Rush has directed toward hunting and fishing. Rush supports the humane society--so do countless others. Why is he then singled out as F&S's "villain"? He makes clear that his support of the humane society is because he is a cat nut, not because he opposes hunting. Whether or not he is an outdoorsman himself, he supports hunting and gun rights. There are millions actively opposed to hunting and/or gun rights, and hundreds of them celebrities. Why is one of them not F&S's "villain of the year"? I think we know why.

YEP...why not the head of Peta (is that how one spells the name of that group?)??? Seems a much wiser choice to me if you want to call someone out. I would not have thought F&S would be "political" in this regard. Supporting gun and hunting rights, absolutely political in that vane, but to call out Rush L. who supports gun rights and hunters rights? One has to wonder...it must be the result of global warming or something Bush did.

So...the new hierarchy?

1. New York Times

2. Washington Post

3. Field and Stream

4. High Times

5. O

All Field and Stream did was point out the inconsistency of Rush supporting an organization that has a radical animal rights element in portions of it's organization.

I understand naming Rush. Whenever your supporters start to slip to the other side, they need to be reminded who they are supporting, especially when that supporter has as much media power as Mr. Limbaugh.

Not to mention it smack of a conveinant belief system for Mr. Limbaugh.

"Villain of the Year" has quite a different ring than "Inconsistent Benefactor."

Call him out on his inconsistencies, absolutely. But a "supporter start[ing] to slip to the other side" can hardly be called the villain of the year, when there are countless real "villains" already on the other side.

By the way, I don't think I've listened to an hour of Rush Limbaugh in the past two years combined, so it's no skin off my nose. I just think it's asinine to say that Rush Limbaugh is hunters' fiercest enemy.

Probably a little over the top, but it got us talking about it. They probably assume that they can point out an inconsistency and get a lot of publicity that will point out the perceived evil inside the humane society.

I think you nailed it here. The Humane Society is more anti-hunter than even PETA, hard to believe. I'm in the wildlife field (wildlife biologist) and can't think of one other group that is more anti-hunting than the humane society (no, not even democrats; lol). So, for Rush to say he supports hunting, yet, he does an ad or 2 for the HS, he sh!t all up in field and streams mess kit. They seem to be really "republican leaning" by the way. I don't know if you are a reader or not KRAM, but if you pick up an issue, they don't general speak well of democrats when discussing politics (which is not in every issue). It's a good read for the hunter and fisher in my opinion. I keep it with all my other important reading material; on the back of the toilet.
