Tough task for the MUTs. I watched all of CMUs games this year , they are very good.

It won't be them. It's Troy versus CMU.

I wonder how Troy fans feel. They're giving up New Orleans for Mobile. And even though I'd love to be in the GMAC Bowl......it's very anti-climactic.....played so late, and overshadowed by the BCS games that are going on then.

I don't know about that, CMU is good.

Especially at QB. Their guy, Dan LeFevour....has many more career yards in his collegiate career....than Tebow does. By a lot.

Nevada will destroy sMu

True Dat about Nevada - I am a Wolfpack fan for that game :-)

That Humaniatrian Bowl is kind of silly - Idaho vs. Bowling Green playing in freakin' Boise, Idaho. Good grief....

How many of these bowls will contain teams that could be the national champion.......ONE...!!!

---We need a playoff system with about 8 teams...... and let the bowl system still exist for those not in the playoffs as a reward for those teams with a good but not great season. There are a whole lot more bowls than eight teams or four games. . Eight teams would extend the two finalists by two games and by only one for the two eliminated in the semis.... all eight now play one extra game (their bowl game).. Lousy argument by claiming it extends season too much. Rarely is there more than 8 teams to be considered as the best team...

---I would suggest never no more than one conference with two teams... this year Alabama and Florida--- that could not meet until the final.....last year.....both Texas and OU. (it was debatable which was the best anyway, not so much this year between Florida and Bama) .

Robb Akey took over a program that had won 7 games the previous 3 years combined, that fielded a team that only had 16 players out 110 on their on-line roster who are from the state of Idaho, and goes bowling in his.........FIRST YEAR.

I could have sworn it couldn't be done, I could have just sworn it?

i'm pretty sure this is Akey's third year.

Yeah, they've been so busy enjoying their football program that they apparantly forgot to update their website. Under "Football-2009 Coaching Staff" located HERE, it reads under Akey's bio...

When Robb Akey accepted the Vandal head coaching job last December,........................

He was hired in December of '06. So he's taken them to a bowl game in three seasons, still out of this world from where we are standing imo.

I see the N.O. Bowl is only paying $325K per team this year. Seems very low although the PapaJohns Bowl in Birmingham is only paying $300K per team.

When the NCAA did away with the minimum payout, a few of the bowls reduced their payouts to the amount that it costs to get the team there and have them take place in the festivities. This gives the school an incentive to really push ticket sales because the school gets a certain amount of tickets as part of that "payout" - the more they sell, the more money they make. The bowls that still list a higher payout are just trying to look better - they have a similar setup. Their payout might be $750K but they require the school to buy 14K tickets and if the school doesn't sell them than their payout is about 300K. It's like taking from the right pocket and putting into the left one. The NO Bowl is just being transparent about it.

Oops! I didn't read Stebo's reply before I answered. Arkstate Fan can explain this with the actual details, but a lot of the $1 million or $1.5 million bowls bill the teams $750,000. The large print giveth and the small print taketh away.
