Channel 8's Sports Reporter- George Riba

I was watching Channel 8 news the other night, and was suprised when Dale Hansen announced a story

about Coach Dodge. Channel 8's sports reporter, George Riba conducted interviews with Coach Dodge,

Riley Dodge, our own George Dunham, at the athletic center, then Riba interviewed several students on

campus. Boy, the Athletic Center and camous shots looked very good on TV!

Coach Dodge stated he was very clear on next years goals, which happen to be the same goals he directs

the team to accomplish, and the turn around will come. Riley said he wants to win for NT and for his Dad.

George stated the hiring of Coach Dodge was the greatest hiring since Hayden Fry, that Coach Dodge is the

right man for the job, and that he (Dunham) gives Coach Dodge his full support as HFC at NT.

The students that were interviewed, all gave Coach Dodge their support. When Riba asked these students

what was the view on campus, each student said the students support Coach Dodge too.

After the video feature was over, Riba and Hansen started talking about Coach Dodge. Riba said Coach Dodge

will be win, then Hansen said," the hiring of Dodge was the right thing to do", and "they need to give him the time

to get his program in place".

You could certainly see that Dunham, Hansen, Riba, and NT students support Coach Dodge, and they do Believe in the Mean Green!

Have you ever heard JubJub say he thought a coach that was coaching one of his favorite teams, needed to go?

It is refreshing to see some local and knowledgeable sports "personalities" favor the decision to retain Coach Dodge. Dale Hansen has never been known to be a UNT Cheerleader, and does like to take pot shots when he can. The fact that his stance was positive on the move is a "good thing" for me. Riba's comments are also very reassuring and lead some credibility as well to the move. Yes, George is the biggest supporter UNT has on the "air waves", so you can certainly understand his position.

All in all, this is a good story and some much needed good PR for the UNT football program. Charlie...thanks.

GO MEAN GREEN!

I guess Riley is in danger of losing the starting QB job.

No, those title banners are branded by the general story, not the specific sub-graphic.

In this case, the story is "Fighting to Keep His Job" (re: Todd Dodge) and that's how they brand all the graphics in that story. It's probably on top of every graphic in the story; it's not about Riley.

It's a hack development that started popping up everywhere within the past 5-10 years. Hated it when I was involved in TV news, still hate it after I left.
