World Cup Draw Today

Just so you might know...the World Cup Draw is on ESPN2 today at 11:00AM. The US was placed in "pot 2" so will not see Mexico in the first round for sure...too bad...US can take Mexico...but may meet in round 2 if the US advances. The US is reported to have had the 4th hardest road (toughest draw) of the 20 teams that have played in the past four World Cups. I hope that changes today.

By the way, four years ago over 300 million people watched the draw. Pretty decent ratings, but whose counting?

We are almost certain to get a tough draw because arguably our pot (No Am, Oceania & Asia) is the weakest and we wont be seeded w any of them. So...we will almost for sure get 1 Euro, 1 So American & 1 African.

gotta hope we get into that So Africa group

They seeded the top 8, then after that grouped by region.

Top 8

Brazil, Arg, Eng, Spain, Italy, So Africa, Holland, Germany

Then region Pots of Euro, So Am/African & No American/Asia

US got a decent draw. In the USA group are: England, USA, Algeria and Slovenia

Schedule is:

6/12/10: US - England

6/18 - US - Slovenia

6/23 - US - Algeria.

I this point I see the US beating Slovenia and Algeria...and it's a toss-up between US & England. England at this point is probably the better team. We'll see about that when the time comes...but a win and a tie against Slovenia and Algeria could get the US through to the second round, but would be much better with wins over both Slovenia and Algeria.

GO USA!!!!!! WORLD CUP 2010...Can't wait! It's a REAL World Championship!!!!! Goooooooooooooooal ! USA! USA! USA!!!!!!

and, of course...GO MEAN GREEN!

Talking World Cup on the Ticket right now.

I like the draw too...very promising. My soccer weenie is at attention.

I also read recently that ESPN and ABC will combine to show the Cup in its entirety. Does that mean every single game will be shown?

Yup, the World Cup is like the Olympics. It's such a big event and global in scale and it gets your jingoism juices flowing, that's it's OK to watch gymnastics every 4 years. And soccer.

You know...I'm thinking the Group of Death is more the: Brazil, Portugal group. How would you like to be either the Ivory Coast or the Commie Koreans and be in with both Brazil and Portugal? Ugh...want to place a bet now on the two teams coming out of Group G???? WOW!

If Tasty's boys can beat Korea and get a draw with Nigeria there is hope....however, i do not disagree with the "toughness" of that group. For the first time in my life I will be cheering for the Greeks to advance out of the first round of the World Cup. You go Greece!!!!!!!! Tasty deserves our full GMG.com support for his "upset minded" World Cup Greeks. Hey, they made it to the big show and that ain't chopped liver!

North Korea is pretty bad...they'd do well to earn a draw. All 4 countries in Group B would probably get through A, E, F and H...and hell, probably C.

Definitely could be....Should be interesting to see how all the groups play out. Seems in every World Cup a team comes from "no where" to make a decent run to the qtrs or even the semi's....strap 'em on and let's get the games going! Come on 2010 in South Africa!!!!!
