Won't Dodge and Tune be back next year? and isn't there a Qb/ath coming in who is good?

So everybody please stop bitchin about him playing because the situation will be even harder for im to see the field next year. He could and will be redshirted by default next year! Dodge told him hey you aren't gona see much time at QB on this team so do you wanna go in and be a hero for one game? Who can turn that down?

He actually showed something in the final game. He may compete and get some playing time. Wouldn't that mean that a lost year would be a big deal? Also, what if we have a similar situation with injuries again? Then we lose another year when he should have been available. Then we are down to two remaining years. Then he is probably at least the back up, and wont redshirt then either.

He was 3-3 and had more passing yards in the last 2 minutes, than either Dodge or Tune had (with significantly more playing time). To proclaim him a permanent bench warmer is a bit premature, IMHO.

If we are down to the fourth QB again then Dodge has no hope next year!

Has there been a Freeze Warning issued for your IQ? Because I don't think it's making it out of the low 30s.

Of the 68 yards on that drive Dunbar had 39. I don't dislike Thompson but don't think that one drive against a bad team, a down defense, and the last game of the year for both teams means anything.

So what does that say about Tune and Dodge then?

On the podcast, RV said he was going to appeal to the NCAA to let him keep the redshirt in 2009 due to extenuating circumstances. We haven't been very successful in times past with such appeals (see Zach Muzzy, Tyler Stradford), but we'll see how it shakes out. And the fact that they are going through this makes it sound like they have no plans of redshirting Thompson next year or any other year in the future.

That they are good enough to win 2 games.

I am not sayin that Tune or Dodge are studs im just saying that Thompson still has a good chance of being redshirted next year. Just because your going to be reshirted doesn't say that you can't compete to see the field. It says that the the coaches son and a senior are in front of you.

Thompson was 3-3 for 60 yards. If Dunbar had 39 yards part of it was from receiving.

Um the way things are going and have been going for 5 years the football team needs a plan A, Plan B, Plan C, and an exit plan!

My source told me that Dodge would seek an unprecedented second medical redshirt for Riley.

No way they grant this request. He was placed in the game on a coaching decision, and that is what UNT will be told when the appeal is denied.

Then again, we're due... Kinda like next season's philosophy

I am not sure you understand the redshirt concept. By playing one series, he used up one year of eligibility; he now has three not the four, he would have had if he had not played. For an extreme example, he could play one series in 2010, 2011 and 2012, he would still have not used his redshirt year but he would be out of eligibility.

Apparently, there is hope that the NCAA will grant a waiver to restore the one year of eligibility lost in the last offensive series of the year. With NT's track record, it seems an extreme long-shot at best. I have no idea why so many don't think Thompson will play next year. I think beating out an injury free Dodge is not likely, however I think he will give Tune a lot of competition for the number two position.

Baine was sick with the flu so he did not go to Ark St.

Tune was hurt early in the game, but stayed in. Later after the two point conversion attempt,

Tune was hurt again, then Tune told Coach Dodge to take him out of the game because he could

not play because of the pain in his arm.

With the game on the line, Coach Dodge's best option was to put Thompson in. The offense

had to cover ground quickly. Thompson gladly went in and preformed very well.

Thompson was very happy about his performance needless to say.

Game was decided. No possible way we were even close to winning that game.

You live in a strange world! Game was not decided until ASU Recovered the onside attempt but don't let that interfere with your delusions. The players and coaches sure weren't thinking that way. I, and the other 50 or so MG fans, believed we had a chance to see a 60 yard drive for the winning touchdown under the direction of DT until the ASU player skyed to grab the ball out of the air.
