QB- Dodge will be back or one of the 10 QB/ATH we have will due and Thompson even though he played one drive he looked good plus " 6'4" 230lbs."

HB- One word "Dunbar"

FB- Who needs them?

TE- We will be in year two of TEs!

Oline- We will have a lot of talent returning

WRs- This is why I am the most excited! Only one guy count em one guy is a senior and he played a small role! Then add two big 12 players who would be starting on OU and OSU!

So you guys who think that having a young team is not an excuse for having a bad year do this. Find 5 18/19 year old men and find 5 21/22 year old men and compare them. If there is not a differance in who is faster, stronger, and in work ethic then you are right. But I think there will be a huge difference!

Carey won't be 19 until May and he was our best WR!

Why I'm not:

-1 Tobe Nwigwe

-1 Eddrick Gilmore

Absolutely zero proven commodities on an already painfully horrid defense. How sad it it that we've got 2 and 3 year starters returning on defense, and zero proven commodities? Its Make or Mendoza year for Deloach coming up.

Stradford and Cole were not going to be starting for OU/OSU. Nevertheless I am excited about them as well.

FWIW...The OSU staff was quoted as saying Cole had the potential to be the best they have seen in years. I can try and dig up the article of you want, but I would be googling around for it which anyone can do on their own.

This team has been "young" for 3 years. What are they doing to not age?

In the first year every WR was a walk-on or freshman! Second year the Walk-on was our best WR and another starter was a walk-on with freshman ans sophmores. IDK if yall know this but Casey was on my flag football team and Roderick Johnson was an intramural star our freshman year! So when two starters on a D-1 team were playing flag football for a year and a half you don't have much. Then in year three Casey, Roderick, King, Brock, Washington, Fentriss, and Dibrell are gone! Thats 7 guys gone! Wow show me an offense who can score points where you starting QB leaves and 7 WR, in the spread, are also gone. You bet you guys can't even win on xbox that way, cut your junior QB and get rid of your top 7 WRs and see how many games you win in a damn video game! This is real life when you lose your top players from a bad team thats hard to win with!

And there is noone to blame but the Head Coach for many of those players leaving or not being able to meet their D1 Scholarship Ability for Playing.

And whose fault is it that all these players left (the non senior players)?

And never doubt my ability to win on the Xbox with whatever players I have. I can make it work.

Ever heard of Brandon Jackson? How bout Korey Washington? Stickler? They all played WR in year one......they weren't freshmen or walk-ons.

Shhhhhh. When you're trying to justify keeping this coach facts are not gonna get you too far.

I've been sitting on the sidelines watching the various posts but I figure it's about time to put in my .02 cents. Yes, I know it's been a tough season. But, yes, I fully support what Todd Dodge is building here & hope he gets some more time to finish what he started. In our current "what have you done for me lately" society, it'd be nice to see patience get rewarded even though it may take longer than we want. In my humble opinion, it'd be nice to see all D-I coaches get at least 4 years to implement their plan (barring some ethics issues, recruiting violations, etc).

Think about this -- if Dodge goes, our most highly regarded recruit in years? Gone. You know who I'm talking about ... Mack Brown would have him back in a second.

Dunbar? Who knows ... he may be gone too. That means we'd be breaking in a 3rd QB in 4 years. Fun.

But more importantly, think about our recent past. Everyone was clamoring for Dickey to be fired for quite some time (during the initial "We need Dickey fired" campaign) but he got that 4th year. What did he do? Well, as we all know he led us to 4 Sun Belt Conference championships and had a record 26 game winning streak in the conference. Unless someone has been hitting the crack pipe too much, I think we can all agree that's a pretty damn good run. Wikapedia even notes that during this four year period the "Mean Green became only the 11th program in college football history to win four consecutive conference titles". Not bad!

OK, what's my point? I believe that had Dickey been canned after that 3rd year you wouldn't have seen 4 straight Sun Belt Championships -- the new guy would have had to implement his own system, bring in different guys, etc & it would have been a rebuilding process. The wait was worth it. The same should go for Dodge. If he can't make it in Year 4 I have no problems letting him go, but he should at least be given the same chance that Darrell Dickey received. He can now sell the new stadium, our players will be one year older & wiser, etc. I think it will be a good thing. Recycling coaches every few years will get us nowhere but at the bottom of the Belt.

Let's give a cheer for U of NY!

Cheer for the Next and Year

Next year's in store
Whatever the score,
Our teams will have next year!
Next, Next, Year!
Shoulder to shoulder
We march along,
Striving for next year!
Playing the game for the honor
And fame and glory of UNY!
U... N... Y... Eagles!
U-N-Y Eagles!
Next, Next, Year!

I think the only way that would happen is if our fan base had patience enough to get behind a guy in his down years, I think a good man(like our current coach) would have a good spot in his heart and feel at home here. That will never happen here at good ol U of NT because we have a steak appetite and a hamburger helper wallet.

My hope that is if/when the current coaching staff turns things around that the bulk of you will retract your negative comments. In my mind, there was no better hire for our program in terms of recruiting, fanbase excitement, and building a stadium than Todd Dodge.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA....HA....HA...HA!!!!

I back Todd Dodge 100%. He inherited a program with a TON of baggage. A ton. He lost 5 scholarships this past year thanks to APR...and trust me, that was not his fault. That is what he inherited...there was no way he could have fixed that situation coming in.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg, folks. He also inherited a program that had no discipline and consequences for ones actions under the previous leadership. If a player didn't go to class, Dickey didn't care...it wasn't his job (in his eyes) to care about that. Let the academic counselors worry about that (his opinion). So the players knew they could get away with what they wanted to because there were no repercussions from the coaching staff (after DeLoach left...but not even DeLoach could trump Dickey on certain things). There was no discipline within the program. But the man made it to 3 bowl games and won one of them...he had people in high places that only cared about that and didn't care about the long-term damage being done to the program itself.

So guess who gets to clean up the mess? Todd Dodge.

Couple that with the worst D-1 stadium in the country, and the man has quite the challenge. Yes, he could use his offense in a manner to keep the blowout scores from happening....but that's not what everyone wanted when they hired him. We all wanted a new offense....an exciting offense...an air-it-out offense...because we were tired of Dickey's Run right, Run left, PA-pass, punt offense.

Well, folks, you need to understand that there is a greater risk of blowout scores when you run a spread-type offense like what Dodge runs. But he will never build the program he wants to build by not running it now. Yes, we are taking our licks, and taking some bad ones right now. But the payoff will be down the road...not now...when the offense in ingrained into the experienced players.

Give him time, and give him a stadium. Remember, he not only has to recruit to the current one, but he has to do so with five less scholarships (thanks Dickey) and with 1/2 the team inherited from an undisciplined previous program (thanks Dickey). Plus, with the injuries, the man just has had some bad luck.

Lastly, I will leave you all with this...Tom Osborne, King Emeritus of the State of Nebraska, took YEARS to build up the program there. You could really say decades in fact. People were more patient back then. In today's world he would've been fired after 4.

Patience, people...patience.

Is it just me or is history repeating itself? (Pay special attention to the parts I bolded.)
