You beat me to the post. I just saw this myself. I cant stand that douche. Ive thought he was classless for awhile now. That just cemented it. Ive been against him since his BS call in the 05 BcS title game when he should have punted to pin Texass deep. The arrogant ass goes for it, doesnt make it, and leaves just enough field for Young to score the GW TD. Dumbass.

Not to replay a game that's 4 years old or something, but that was probably the right call. Carrol had been known for going for it on 4th down all season long.

Veteran LA Times sportswriter Bill Plaschke says that Carroll didn't go for another score until after he took a knee and Neuheisel called timeout to stop the clock.

"In the end, while his players deserved better, Neuheisel got exactly what he deserved. ... By calling a timeout, Neuheisel was making it clear that he did not agree with Carroll's decision to take a knee. So Carroll said fine, he would keep playing."

I am not disagreeing with you, however, in basketball they RARELY ever try to take a shot when there is less time in the game than on the shot clock and the game is effectively over. In baseball they don't even play the bottom of the ninth inning, so that can be deemed "not trying to score", it is just built into the rules.

This reminds me of how Tulsa took it to Dickey the last time we played up there. At the end of the half, Tulsa was up HUGE and obviously could (and were) score at will. They were going to go for the field goal and let the clock expire (out of mercy). Dickey for some reason calls timeout and the Tulsa sideline was irrate at wasting their time before the half. Tulsa pulls their kicker out, lines up and scores the TD.

I think it was a chump move by Carroll -- and he made it worse by dancing around afterward like USC won the national championship. So many USC players were jumping around like Kris Kross that the sidelines cleared and it almost became a brawl. Check out the video:

They were excited that they wouldn't miss the bus, since they were at home.

I would be willing to bet all I have that Carroll was responding to classless actions by Neuheisel. Neuheisel is the biggest douche bag I have ever seen. I have seen him score with seconds left while up by 30+ points vs take a knee. He deserved whatever Carroll did I assure you. UCLA must have been desperate to hire him. Unbelievable.
