Here is the quote from RV:

"Coach Dodge, the president [Gretchen Bataille] and I will talk," Villarreal said. "It was a tough season. People want to look at the negatives, but there were a lot of positives. You look at the number of close losses, even today, where we fought back. There are a lot of good changes in this team. Coach Dodge, the president and I will formulate a plan and go from there."

Does not sound like a decision has been made to me.

Villarreal declined to say if the school had decided if Dodge would return. Dodge declined to comment on his job status

Sounds to me like they may be giving Dodge some other options, I think it is pretty clear Todd won't be HC next year from what I have read and heard.

I do not know how many options you think he will have, but I feel pretty sure he will be the head coach or not a coach in any capacity on the UNT football team. He has been a head coach to long to take an assistant's position with the person who is replacing him. I would hope RV would not do that to him, he doesn't deserve that, and I would hope that he would get a new coach that is capable of hiring his own staff. I don't like the "Jerry Jones" model.

I'd like for him to take a position similar to what McWilliams took at Texas when he resigned as head coach to become president of an athletic alumni group. I think Dodge could be a great ambassador for North Texas; if he found a niche as a fundraiser, it could make a lot of these struggles more palatable.

You are going to lose a lot of support if he comes back as the head coach.

I totally disagree. The following year always brings a new found optimism.

Next year with some of the transfers and new recruits will bring the same.

Not sure the order of the OOC yet , but our 1st 2 home games should have good numbers no matter what happens ( K-State & Rice) If we lose both and we couple that with a blowout loss to Clemson to start the season , the crowd will be way down before we head into SunBelt play. A home win over Rice could go a long , long way. No matter who the coach , we should beat Rice

So funny to see anyone saying that we should beat anybody. Without major changes, we win 2 games next year...again.

Because the football program always suck at the end of the year, especially the last 3.

you can't just say the last three. attendance has been better than when dickey was here. his years were worse.....so....i guess you're reply doesn't work.

The man has been here three years. That is not enough time to get the job done. He needs at least one more year.

If they had more than 5 wins in 3 years, I might argue that, but folks this is the WORST we have ever had and the chances of him turning this around are horrible.

Gee, I thought we hired Dodge to get better. Guess not. Guess your right. Guess we settle for 2 wins again next year.

And we wonder why we continue to SUCK. So frustrating to see this line of thinking.

Has the President been involved with other coach evaluations at the end of the season?

Not that I've known unless it involves a lot of money, either a contract extension or contract termination, then the Prez gets involved. Whichever way it goes, I think we'll hear soon.
