Truthfully, Dodge had a remote, although very remote, chance to win this game with Thompson in.

Playing or not playing Thompson today only affects his eligibility in 2013. I seriously doubt Todd Dodge is really that worried about what happens to North Texas in the 2013 season at this point.

Yup, he was fighting to save his job and it almost worked. Looks like we might have another QB for next year already. Are you guys sure that the shirt is burned? Isn't there a rule about playing a certain amount of plays in order to burn the redshirt? I guess that it doesn't matter. Dodge fought hard to the very end, losing by 4 once again. Our fifth game to lose by 4 or more... We lost a 6th game by 7. I know that everyone is mad but this team improved this year. We were a touchdown or less away from being 8-4. The kicking team killed up in those games. Absolutely killed us. The kicking game killed us tonight once again.

As bad as the kicking game has been lately they didn't kill us today. One extra point was missed. The blocked kick wouldn't have counted even if it had been good due to an illegal formation. And, if the kick had been good without an infraction or miss it would only have sent the game to overtime. What killed us was being down 27-0. We didn't come prepared (again) and the deficit was too great to overcome.

My understanding is that with football, being on the field for any play in any game counts for a year of eligibility. Maybe someone who knows where to look up the rules can confirm that or not, but I think he has 3 years of eligibility from this point forward.

i think that a medical redshirt deals with a certain percentage of plays, not a regular redshirt.
