Why is that "gold" in your opinion? It was no secret that I was a fan at the time of Coach Dodge. He WAS our coach...unlike some others I support our coaches while they are our coaches. And, what, you had to go back to 2009 and dredge up one of my old posts to try to make some inane point??? You really do need to get a life. Who the heck rang your bell and why?

I voted the way I felt and would not change my vote today...who the hell cares now anyway...Oh, you! Why?

Old news and nothing I would be ashamed of posting again at that time and under those circumstances. So what? And, what does it accomplish for you to post this? As I recall, and as you said, you wanted the hire of Coach Dodge in the first place. Great evaluator of HC's you are it turns out. Just like a lot of us who thought the hire was a good one at the time.

Makes one think that this HC hiring stuff is pretty challenging to get right in the first place...maybe luck has a good bit to play as well as experience, knowledge and the big pile of money that UNT rarely seems to have!

It just reiterates that you are the most supportive person toward UNT on this board, big fella. Nothing more, nothing less. EVERYONE knows that you bleed Mean Green--so much so that nothing ever seems bad, negative, wrong, etc...when it comes to UNT athletics. You are the perfect fan for the UNT BOR. I am not even kidding, either.

It is interesting that some of the same faces that supported Dodge supported Benford. Also interesting that 52% of the fans who voted wanted Dodge back. No wonder the BOR feels RV is the bee's knee

      Morris needs to own the Caponi hire

      Let's be more specific than "done the job before at D1 level". A guy that has done it before at a Power school, but never seen the struggles at Group level, would concern me. I don't think it's a deal breaker, but my preference would be someone that is getting it done at our level or lower, and is hungry to prove himself. Older guys that have proven themselves at Power level also might not be that hungry anymore.

      Nebraska just proved the 3-3-5 defense is trash

      Yeah, having that level of play at the position is great for any formation, but I think you're kind of watering down the point here: If you're a 3-3-5 base coach, and you want to work at a G5 school, you face a massive uphilll climb without that DT playing at an AA level. We are seeing this scheme fail over and over because, as we are learning, even with elite play in the back 5, it's nearly impossible to compensate for a 3 man front that is facing 5 men other side of the line every single down. Counterpoint: I don't think the answer is necessarily going back to a traditional 4-3. Don't be surprised if in the next 5-10 years (or less!) we see an evolution on that side of the ball, where your formation has 4 up front, but they get creative with the back 7. Might be worth investigating what has already been done with a 4-2-5.

      I don't think Leach ran the the 3-3-5, but I could be wrong. I think these air raid guys think it's such a great defense because they all want to continue to pass even when the pass is not working. They refuse to switch to the run so their thinking is this 3-3-5 is a great defense instead of thinking maybe I should switch to the run to beat it. So, they hire a DC thinking it's the best defense instead of realizing their offensive philosophy is the problem.
