I'm still curious to see the number of new registered users voted in this poll. The poll was heavily lopsided for "Fire Him", then after a few days it has all of a sudden considerably swung to "Keep Him".

Rational thought prevails. I'm sure the haters all voted quickly from their multiple accounts so they could "prove" to themselves a majority agree with them.

There are only 152 total votes out of the nearly 8000 registered users. So, with 71 yes votes right now that means 00.887% of Gomeangreen.com think strongly enough both to register there opinion.

Kinda how this program will also swing from having a losing record to winning record next year. A sudden considerable swing, it will just happen......

So you're predicting a new head coach? Tell us what you know, Mr.Mosely? :P

152 is pretty close to the number of unique posters we've had on the site in the past year or so. It is entirely possible that most of those are duplicates. Even if they are, I think it only proves the point that, collectively, we are a very, very small group. Our voice is just louder because of the interwebz.

Ah, who am I kidding? I guess I should come clean. I am actually Quoner, The Tasty Greek, Kram1, and Glad to Be Green. My shame is eternal, as is my propensity for message board arson.

There is only one coach who should get credit for what this team does next year and that is Dodge. I'll tell you what I know, I know that Coach Dodge didn't miss what would have been the winning catch in one game, he didn't miss the field goal in another, he didn't throw the pick for six in another lose, kinda get what I'm saying. You guys give a coach way too much credit for wins and way too much credit for a loss. A good coach puts together a good staff, prepares the players he has to execute his game plan, and then he sticks to his plan with the players he has. Maybe just maybe the defensive coach is limited to what kind of game plan he can call due to what his players abilities are, same for the offense. I'm simply saying next year you will see a difference in players on the field. The field will be covered with multi year starters who have tasted and felt defeat and been rode in the ground by the fair weather fan. The players will make the difference next year. Head coach, defensive coach and the rest of the coaches are fine to me. Young players making young mistakes are a year wiser and a year stronger. Mistakes and blown assignments go away with experience. All this, with a team being led by a QB with a years experience behind him, is all I know.

So why is most of his original staff gone? Why can we expect to see more of this current staff gone after this season? If these are indeed your signs of a good coach......

When the pornbot vote is finally heard, it's going to be a landslide for Robot Nixon and his new metal body.

I am just a little confused on what you are asking, he came here with a staff he picked, adjusted that staff over the years, and may or may not be finished adjusting it. To me that is a sign of a good leader or coach in this case, one who can make the hard call to remove say a close friend from a job, or cut a person even if they seem to be a good guy. The man has proven he can make these calls, surely he has shown you he can stand tall to adversity and not run from it. The only thing he has left to prove is that he can put more wins in the win column. To complete this he needs the chance to finish what he has started. After next year this argument will be over one way or the other for all sides. Either the wins come or they don't, when they do, end of argument. If they don't, end of argument. Give it another year you may be glad you did. If fact, one more year might get you 10 more cheap...........Look for the players who show up next year and the Different Look they bring. They would make me look like a good coach........... Edited by James Mosley

I think that this is where many question Coach Dodge as a coach.

Final tally before the ASU game 88-78 in favor of keeping him.

Just for fun can we start this poll over and see if the results stay the same?

5 wins in three years.

Why are you such a troll?

How about we do a poll if you should be allowed to post any more?

I agree, Mr. Mosley...I agree. UNT should keep Coach Dodge here for next season. I do think the team has made it to the "corner" and will make the turn. I see a win over Ark State to end the season...GO MEAN GREEN!

This is gold...

I really didn't mean to link to this thread to point fingers or mock anybody. It is really fun, however, to see how people thought during the whole thing. I'll say that a lot of people were either looking at the world through some very green glasses, or had a very thick layer of wool pulled over their eyes or both. A state of being to which we all fall victim at one time or another.

I wanted the school to hire Dodge, given the choices that we had on our limited budget back then. I thought he would be a slam dunk, too. But I didn't know that he would just make up a staff with HS coaches as coordinators and position coaches in thsoe first few seasons. Once it became clear, though, after year 3 that it wasn't going to get better, we should have cut bait. But I knew we wouldn't because RV told Richard Durrett of espndallas.com that Dodge was safe and would get the 4th year because "we don't have money to buy out two years of a contract". Those weren't my words--that was the AD who said that, no doubt reaffirming the BOR's thoughts. So we went ahead and gave Dodge a 4th season, which saw more epic failure and we fired him because it was then affordable to do so.

By taking a "value" approach to that decision, it literally cost the football program probably another 2-3 years of being able to become a winner. But we did save money, though...

Why is that "gold" in your opinion? It was no secret that I was a fan at the time of Coach Dodge. He WAS our coach...unlike some others I support our coaches while they are our coaches. And, what, you had to go back to 2009 and dredge up one of my old posts to try to make some inane point??? You really do need to get a life. Who the heck rang your bell and why?

I voted the way I felt and would not change my vote today...who the hell cares now anyway...Oh, you! Why?

Old news and nothing I would be ashamed of posting again at that time and under those circumstances. So what? And, what does it accomplish for you to post this? As I recall, and as you said, you wanted the hire of Coach Dodge in the first place. Great evaluator of HC's you are it turns out. Just like a lot of us who thought the hire was a good one at the time.

Makes one think that this HC hiring stuff is pretty challenging to get right in the first place...maybe luck has a good bit to play as well as experience, knowledge and the big pile of money that UNT rarely seems to have!
