So it seems like NASA scientists are being bombarded with questions from people who want to know if the world is ending is 2012.

Pretty funny, right? Not according to Morrison: 'I've had three from young people saying they were contemplating committing suicide. I've had two from women contemplating killing their children and themselves. I had one last week from a person who said, "I'm so scared, my only friend is my little dog. When should I put it to sleep so it won't suffer?" And I don't know how to answer those questions.'"
:unsure::huh::blink:

For the record, the earth is not ending in 2012. Someone tell Playmaker ASAP.

Here is a good response from NASA: Link.

Or read a longer slashdot post here: Please stop bothering the nice NASA scientists.

Better chance of happening in 2012

World Ending or a UNT Sunbelt title lead by Todd Dodge ?

Or John Cusack leading us to a title?

I remember the 1989 scare of the world ending then.

And in 1999.

And in 1999.

A true story about the Y2K scare....the brilliant city of Mesquite bought into the theory that the new millennium would shut down everything electronic that depended on a clock. Their biggest fear? The red lights would stop working. So, weeks before December 31, 1999, they spent thousands of dollars sending work crews out to all the red light intersections to dig post holes (so they could erect stop signs on 1/1/01). My mother lives there and I have to chuckle to myself every time I visit her and see the red-capped, post-hole markers in the ground.

The 2k bug was at least real. Nothing bad happened because a lot of people spent a lot of time fixing things so they wouldn't cause problems.

The funny thing is this work mainly went on in the 94-98, by the time the media picked up on it and started scaring people, most of the work had already been done, and the threat had passed.

A lot of cities did that actually. Still all overraction.
